Who's Horace? I took that line to be Wilfred Owen?

It’s Horace, but quoted by Wilfred Owen in his poem “In dulci et decorum est”.

Well, my county just closed all bars and gyms. They started mandating masks last week.

Good thing I got a swim in today, might be the last time in a while.

Our governor just closed our bars, gyms, movie theaters, and water parks again starting at 8pm tonight... masks became mandatory in my county like a week ago or something I don't recall exactly, I'd been wearing one anyway before that.
eta i didn't even know the movie theaters had been open.

Sorry just seeing this. So, I guess what I treading lightly about is the fact that this is her first and only offense since my son has been with her in 6 years. To me taking to my t is like ratting her out to the boss since he is the owner of the practice. I do know the office manager well, and I know she will tell me the best route to take.

Or maybe it’s better if I just address it with son’s t directly?

Healed, what your son’s T did violated so many laws and ethical codes. It doesn’t matter if it was one transgression. If I violated HIPAA and someone found out I’d be fired. I would definitely report to the board. I’d also likely tell her that I was doing so first, but I would still report.

It's the first and only offense that you know about. You and your son are presumably entrusting her with a lot of sensitive information. If she's willing to talk with him in front of her kids, in what other ways has her poor judgment impacted the quality of her work and his right to privacy?

We're on our way home, only about 3 hours away. My son's in home behavioral coach is back to doing home appointments, so we're scheduled for tomorrow morning. For now they're only allowed to do the visits outside in the backyard and we have to stay 6 ft apart. I think it'll be better than doing teletherapy, but it also feels very open and worry about H violating my privacy while I'm talking to the coach. My son likes that they're able to do it outside, so that's a plus for him.

Masks will be mandatory here starting 7/1. I am curious, how has that gone over for those of you who are already there...do people actually wear them? Businesses require them?

I suppose it can make it easier for businesses to say customers have to wear one to enter. But people are being very...people-y...about it here.

Yes and yes. I do see a few holdouts every time I go out. No one seems to bother them about it, though.

I need to go into my office tomorrow and get things for fall in case I get to stay home. I’m not looking forward to dragging my stuffed half life size sacrificial cow to the car.

P.S. Hi Couch. I am surfacing from a term filled with group projects. Via Zoom.

The professor tried the "it's like working in teams in real life." It's a lot harder to pull that one on people who are already working in teams in real life.

I brought you all homemade strawberry jam.

Picture. I have to see this.

I had to go to the office today. The entire building was deserted. We have to fill out an access form to even enter the building. They're talking about holding in-person classes in fall and having students in the dorms.

Yeah, I guess it's a bit different with your T being her boss. I'd suggest talking to your son's T directly and seeing how she reacts. If she acts like "What's the big deal?" then I'd definitely say something to your T. If she admits fault and said she screwed up in her judgment and that it won't happen again--if she seems to understand why it's a violation (well, multiple violations, in a sense), then maybe let it go for now?

They've been required here for maybe a week or so I forget when they announced it. I'm not going out much but when I do, it seems like most people are wearing them in the stores I have gone to. Not all, but more than not it seems. I haven't seen anyone be asked to leave, but then like I said I'm not going out much either. There's several conditions where you don't have to wear one like when you're eating or if you have a medical condition, etc. they closed bars, gyms, water parks etc again as of last night but I guess restaurants are still open. Our cases are going up like crazy in my state so I really expect another stay at home order and more closings again.

My accommodations to teach remotely got approved. I feel so relieved.

Bad news, though: apparently my sacrificial cow got moved somewhere else during our building’s move (this is my first time in the new office). I’m having the office staff put out an APB, but I may have to make do with my back up (and smaller) sacrificial goat.

(By the way, none of this is a joke. Welcome to my world.)

ETA: here’s the goat.

am i being a baby feeling slighted because i don't get a day off for the 7/4 holiday? My coworkers who work Mon-Fri get Friday off with holiday pay so they get a 3 day weekend. I am off on friday anyway because i work Sun-Thurs. They're going to pay me holiday pay for my normal off day, which is good, but i still only get 2 days off where everybody else gets 3.

Sunday off paid gives you an extra paid day off compared to everyone else.

Sunday off unpaid penalizes your pay for the 2nd week of july.

Okay, thats all the math for me today! There may be a fairer workaround but my brain just

Love the Sacrificial Goat, ATAT. Makes me miss Work Penguin, who I didn't realise was such an integral part of my work experience.

Ok, now I'm really curious what you do with these animal props. Reenact animal sacrifices?

The goat is kind of cute. I had two pet goats when I was in 3rd and 4th grade and really enjoyed having them. My parents had some sort of animal/farmer dream going on and we had quite a menagerie, including pigs, chickens, geese, rabbits, ponies, and a mule that we had to return to her previous owner because she loved him so much and was miserable at being given away.
