Maybe it’s because he fulfills something of a parental figure in my life and I made it a point never to talk about dating with my parents?

I could see this. I had paternal feelings toward ex-MC, and anytime sex came up in there, I sort of wanted to disappear into the couch. It's a little awkward with Dr. T, especially because he tends to use actual words for things, while I'm more likely to use euphemisms,* but it's still more comfortable with him because I don't tend to feel the paternal stuff with him.

Honestly, I don't feel comfortable talking about that stuff with men unless I also happen to be sleeping with them. I've never experienced paternal transference. There was a male nurse I was really fond of during a 3 month long hospital stay, but it didn't feel paternal to me. I guess I'm saying that I don't think the discomfort is pathological.

ETA - Seems more societal. I mean, they split up girls and boys in health class when I was a kid to talk about sex-specific things.

You sure know me about the impulsive tendencies! I'm naturally a hermit- as long as I get a daily walk I'm okay.

Three things I do want to do/go to:

Ikea .
I want pancakes from the hipster cafe.
I want to go to the burger bar I like.

I'm going to go back to learning French + maths.

P.s How is your exercise going? I really want to back to the gym but I'm afraid of cooties.

If you enjoy the class maybe keep going, but have a look at other groups. We have the website Meetup. Maybe you guys might have something similar- they have all kinds of groups from just hiking to a war hammer gaming guild!

Blargh, woke up at 4:30 again for no particular reason (other than the fact that I’m switching from the night shift to a regular day schedule). The good news is that I’m supposed to hang out with this guy J whom I am really starting to like. We’re supposed to go hiking but the weather is looking cruddy so we might stay in and play board games instead.

Also, I emailed my T asking if we could take off the third week of July since I'll be camping all that week and he emailed back saying it was complicated and that he'd leave me a voicemail with his thoughts. Why can't he just say yes? Oof.

Don't ask - just tell the guy when you are next available.

There is a big new swimming update to Animal Crossing that was released today! That might keep you occupied until date time. Also I really want to hear what the complication to your scheduling request is! Like, WTF?

ooh pancakes sound really good and i am intrigued by the 'hipster cafe', trying to picture what that is like!

I have never been to Ikea although we do have one here, up north a bit in the county where the stupid virus is spreading like crazy. i will not be going up there anytime soon, needless to say.

My trip to Ikea was the worst shopping experience I have ever had. The whole store is set up like a giant snaking maze, and you have to go through every single section, even if you're just looking for one thing. It was exhausting and overwhelming. Also the meatballs in the cafeteria are extremely overrated. That said, I recognize that this is a minority opinion. And we did get several practical affordable, aesthetically appealing pieces of furniture that have held up well over time.

My exercise is semi-regular. My eating is getting SO GOOD! And i am doing multiple chores a day without even worrying about it. Not BIG chores, mostly tiny ones, but still! Its good!

Manatee - there IS a shortcut marked, if you ever go back again. But yeah, it definitely has that haunted house sense to it!

There are shortcuts built in (although well-hidden) so you don’t have to go through everything. Maybe you could do a real Animal Crossing simulation in IKEA? Quest for the Shortcuts?

If I go I shop online first and note down the aisle and bin numbers in the warehouse so I can just go to that part.

I'll email you pictures from their instagram! I can't remember my login in details for imgur and i never learnt how to insert photos here.

I love the atmosphere, but the prices are a bit steep. I paid close to £8 the last time I was there. So I don't go very often.

My place came with furniture so I only go for the candles, but love walking around sitting in the chairs, pretending that this was my home.

I'd emailed Dr. T Wed. evening talking about how I was really struggling (mostly pandemic related), and he sent a helpful response, which I may share later. Near the end of session today, I said, "I'm guessing you expected me to be really emotional this session." (I wasn't, just shed a few tears.). Dr. T: "I never know what to expect from you, LT." At least I keep him guessing? And am not predictable or boring...

Ugh, one of my closest colleagues has covid. He's actually sick too--not in the hospital but at home (so far).

(I haven't seen him in person since March, just on screen for the quarantini hours some of us have been doing.)

The secret is to get a store map and find the hidden shortcuts. They're not really hidden, but if you don't know they're there, you'll have to walk the whole path. You can get to the part of the store you want a lot quicker using the shortcuts. (Written while lounging on my Ikea sofa.)

ETA: I see others have given you the same "secret" advice now that I've read further.
