I had a dream the other night that I was trying to hide from these lumbering, giant, ogre-like creatures. But when they found me, I realized they were just normal people and I was an infant. Wonder what the heck that's supposed to mean.

Date yesterday went super well! The guy is so nice, a PhD doing his postdoc. He's very sweet and soft-spoken. And he asked for my number, and we're having dinner on Friday

I guess I'm going to have to break it to the other guy.

Yay, glad it went well! Hm, maybe this will make it easier to tell the other guy? To say you met someone else? I'm sure it will still be difficult though. I generally had terrible guilt when breaking up with people, even if I'd only seen them a few times. (not sure that's officially a "breakup," but still).

I hate how COVID keeps invading my dreams. I had one last night where I was picking up D at her old daycare center (where she hasn't gone in years), and like no one was wearing masks. The owner sat down to talk to me and show me stuff about how D was doing, and I ended up flipping out on her for not wearing a mask. Then she was saying that D was a bit sniffly, so they wanted to check her out at their health center, and I screamed, "No, I just want to take her home!!!"

I also had one the other night where I went to a party that was supposed to be really small, so I thought it would be OK. I was really enjoying myself, then more and more people showed up, and I started freaking out. I had driven a friend there and kept trying to get in touch with her so that we could leave. Everywhere I tried to stand to wait got filled with people. Not sure why I didn't just go outside, but this was dream logic...

I guess i gotta eat my last meal earlier or lighter, but i was already looking for schnax last night!

Thanks, LT. Yeah, I hate rejecting people, maybe even more than I hate being rejected.

On a different note, scientist guy recommended this Netflix series called Norsemen and it's hilarious--I'm already five episodes in and am literally laughing out loud. It's a comedy about a bunch of vikings... which I admit doesn't sound very funny, but you just have to give it a try.

I dream a lot about masks as well... either I have forgotten my own mask when going shopping or on public transport, or others are not wearing masks or wearing them improperly.... hope I can enjoy maskless dreams again once it's over!

I have never dreamt of masks. It was a hassle to teach in one but other than that, I don't really think about it

How is the NYT spelling bee not accepting IMMANENT? Did that become an offensive term?

My last dream was that I was in someone's house and they lived right next to the beach. They're having a party with lots of kids invited, but the party is gatecrashed and i'm thinking "it's not safe I have to leave". I reach my house in London, but I say I have to go back for the others but my sister is safe and asleep in bed.

Woke up with a lot of anxiety today that's come and gone twice.

They are both Latin. And they are two separate words with distinct meanings.

“The country’s imminent doom was caused by its immanent flaws.”

Haven’t you ever heard of immanentizing the eschaton?

I haven't been remembering dreams lately except for the one over a week ago. Had a vague sense of something weird in my dreams last night when I woke up this morning, but whatever it was flew away before I could catch it. Frustrating. I want my dream recall ability back.

I go through phases, but I heard writing them down regularly helps you remember them better.

Yep, I believe that's true! I guess I need to start writing down even the tiniest of snippits I can catch before they fly away - maybe if I do that, the rest will come back to me.... I literally have 2.5 boxes full of spiral notebooks where I've recorded my dreams for the past 9 years. I've been bringing older ones with me to therapy lately it's been really interesting to read my dreams from years 1 and 2 in therapy.

@@ Is this line correct?

o beata solitudo, o sola beatitudo. O blessed loneliness, o lonely blessedness.

From a Quora answer about spending Christmas alone.

Not going back this year and it's really getting to me now.
