I am a 17 year old female. I think I suffer from a variety of mental health issues or maybe just one severe one. As I get older, it is only declining further. I tried talking to my mom about getting a therapist but she refuses as she believes I dont need it, The only person I have to support me is my boyfriend who I love dearly. I don't want friends as I am happier alone, I find it extremely hard to socialize with other people and make friends and find it challenging. I don't have the money nor permission to get a therapist. I just want to feel good again and I don't know what to do.

Hi, I'm not sure what your symptoms are but if you have symptoms of mental health issues it's a good idea to see a doctor. I'm not sure how it works in California, but I suppose anyone under 18 is classed as a child?are there services available to you? I don't think you need permission to see a doctor?
The sooner you can sort yourself out the better. It gets so much worse as you get older. |

I am assuming you are still a high school student. If you, your school probably has at least one counselor on staff. Have you spoken to your school counselor? While they may not be able to be a therapist for you, they often have information regarding services available or can help communicate the need and the information to your parents.

This is what I was going to suggest as well. And even if school is virtual for you right now, you should still be able to talk to someone. And maybe, after you talk to them, that counselor/school psychologist might be willing to have a meeting with you and your mom to talk about the need to get you some other outside help (I assume it could work that way, if you gave permission). If you're by chance in college, they'd have resources, too. I hope you're able to get some help. I went to my mom as a teen about depression, and she said, "What do you have to be depraessed about?" and wouldn't get me help. |

Two online ideas to perhaps consider:
7cups.com (free nonprofessional chat listening) caringcontact.org (free listening line, phone or chat) |
