The places I took friends to get them (before I was eligible) were a lot more efficient, even at another large university in my state.

I hope the second shot goes more smoothly for you.

I'm hoping that getting it at a pharmacy will help for me, in the sense that they know what they're doing (as they administer flu shots), but I think this pharmacy only recently started carrying it, so who knows? They may not have the process down yet.

For what it's worth, LT...I think the majority of the care workers who help me out have had the Pfizer shot, and the most they had was a sore arm. Although I don't think any of them have had their second yet.

Interesting and would be great for campers or dorm rooms, but I'm pretty sure one's coworkers would not appreciate having to smell what you're cooking for lunch every day.

Speaking as soneone who has gone into anaphylactic shock after medication, the vaccine was fine. The worst part was waiting in the 30-minute caution (because of the earlier anaphylactic shock) parking lot while a nurse periodically peered in through the car window at me to be sure I was conscious.

I was also able to work fine the same day and the next. I did teach from home, but it wasn’t because of aftereffects, which were less than from a flu shot for me at least. Uncomfortable, sure, but I could power through them.

My first one went really smoothly at the pharmacy i went to. People were lined up, but it didn't matter where you were in line because they called us up by appointment time and were pretty darn punctual. Like, I was maybe 8th in line but they called my name before most of the others who were in line. So apparently they got there early.

I have a full day on Saturday. Taking Amelia to the vet at 9:45 AM. Then Therapy at 11 AM. Then meeting a friend for religious studies at 3 PM. When am I going to get my nap?

P.S. Amelia isn't sick, she is just due for a shot. We'll see if we can actually catch her and get her in the crate to take to the vets. Sometimes I can do it. Sometimes I can't. I've had to call them once and say, "It's not happening today." They were okay with it.

Oh and Friday I am going to the DMV. Going to try to get my REAL ID. Sigh. I'm not thrilled about going to the DMV but it needs to get done. Not that I fly anywhere, but I could. Eventually. Sometime. Maybe.

Thats what i was thinking! But usually i was the culprit. I would warm up a can of peas with garlic powder in the office microwave. Im a horrible person. It took me a while to realize that.

I had to get my Real ID when my license was due for renewal in early 2020. Just make sure you read up on all the required paperwork. They needed a lot.... Also, are you able to make an appointment at the DMV? I did and was glad I did, seeing the line of people waiting, but it may be different in your state and during COVID.

Shot acquired! Very smooth process. Actually hurt less than the flu shot for the injection itself (like "Oh, that's it?). It was Pfizer. I wandered around the store for 15 minutes--managed to resist the temptation of the muffin case (butter rum muffin!). Current symptoms are just a sore arm (trying to move it around a bunch, as I've heard that helps).

I haven't been able to make an appointment but it says my confirmation serves as an express something or another. I did read up on the paperwork. I just have to get my birth certificate from my Dad. It's like geez, do you want my blood type and first born nephew too?

Yeah LT! Glad it went smoothly and that so far just a sore arm! Good to hear!

Thanks, Kit!

And for the Real ID, I had to order a new copy of my birth certificate from the state, as they needed one with a seal or something like that. It was really annoying. And I'm sure would be much more complicated for someone not born in the US.

I don't mind what people cook or eat at work - faculty have offices but the students walk around with wafting food all the time and there are tables all around the faculty offices for them to eat at. For me, nothing is worse than microwave popcorn and people do that all the time. I have no idea why people even eat that chemical laden travesty. I love popcorn but not the kind in microwave bags.
So far the curry and the mexican beans have both turned out really well in the little machine

I doubt it will be. They are letting the nursing school handle it and they have thus far proven to be idiots.

My arm hurt after the first one but that is all. Other than my arm, I had no reactions

For real id - we could use a passport for most of it. They did not need my birth certificate specifically

So I have, on multiple occasions, heated up fish at work. According to the internet, I’m going to hell for this. I never noticed a strong odor but I also don’t have the best sense of smell.

Yes, you are. We had a guy heat up fish one day and the whole building could smell it. People weren't happy with him and they teased him about it for weeks. He didn't handle it well and got defensive.

I would bet none of you has heated up Spartan black broth at work.

Still, didn't smell too bad, just kind of bloody and meaty.

PS The cats would not get out of the kitchen last time I made it. (I make it to show students, not for me to eat.)
