I don’t think most hawks usually eat other birds. They’re more into mammals.

thanks for the link! I'll check it out.

The ones here actually do, they hunt the smaller doves and littler birds from what I've seen. We have Cooper's Hawks here and they hunt quail, songbirds, and squirrels (from what I have read). I've seen them go after the bigger doves, too but not as frequently. I didn't know they went after quail and squirrels - I would have thought those would be too big but I guess not.

get a link, share a link!

Ah, Cooper's Hawks...the bad bad boys of the predatory bird world. They've basically all got leather jackets and brass knuckles on.

They are a sight to see when they swoop down out of a tree and fly away! I saw it once from about 6-8 feet away from the branch it took off from, in my front yard. Took my breath away.

leather jackets and brass knuckles - well that would explain why it was merely dazed after crashing into my window yesterday. I swear he glared at me through the window before he flew away. Like I somehow made him do it.

Yes - I know that - I was adding in a new bird of prey that eats other birds. I have been watching live falcon cams. Hornbills, which are also not hawks, eat other birds and almost anything else they can get their beaks on, sometimes their own chicks. It is funny to watch them come to feeders because all of a sudden all the other birds leave and a minute or so later - the hornbills appear.

Also we have falcons, hawks, and owls in the park a block from my house and eagle watching is a popular pastime in the winter if you go down to the rivers.
I have been buzzed by raptors diving for prey while walking my dogs.

I was only thinking of my paintings just then. Last week i put 2 of my originals on fb marketplace and someone did want to buy one, but i took it down because it was my first original painting and i didnt want to part it. Now i dont know if i should paint ones occasionally to sell obviously ones i i wont get attached to. Just to make a little bit of pocket money. Then i would have to make a fb page with my real details as fb still hasnt restored my real profile they took down claiming it was fake.
It takes me forever to paint something so i guess it wont happen

There was some sort of bird cam
I watch one from Orange that is the falcons, one in South Africa that has the hornbills, and one in Scotland for owls. I was following a Royal Albatross cam -but the people watching that one were weirder and more anthropomorphic than I could handle. I thought the falcon people and the deer pantry people were bad until I came across the albatross ones (and albatross always call to mind the Rime of the Ancient Mariner - "the wedding guest here beat his breast, for he heard the loud bassoon)

Of course. This is what I ended up with. It's on a smallish piece of plywood like 12" by 4.5" (so not very big) that I saved out of some delivery or other. I always save stuff like that to paint on since I started this little hobby. I call it "Spring" and it kinda makes me happy. Now I want to write a poem to go along with it.

eta: it's a little bit funny actually. I started by painting the entire piece of wood solid black. And then, this happened.

Thanks, Daff. I tried to give it some depth. Cuz I feel like I want to tumble headfirst into and get lost in the colors of spring and out of this dark season I've been in.

At last my daughter is going out and handing her resume into businesses. I hope she gets a job. I rember it took me nearly a dozen interviews before i got i got accepted as a trainee nurse. My daughter fainted at her first ever interview and i dont think she has gotten over it. Plus she has an anxiety disorder which makes it harder.

Yup, saw pdoc. Long day due to a bunch of stuff. Basically another patient thought I was staring at him and challenged me. So I was really bleeping anxious.

Then there was a medical student on zoom. I gave consent as I hoped my appointment would help 1 would-be doctor not being a skeptic and being versed with complex trauma would be great. Tons of pdocs here are horribly not trauma sensitive at all.

Pdoc was quite validating, which helped. She thankfully isn't a OSDD/DID-skeptic!

Had to go back in at a later point because pdoc and I both forgot my Depo-Provera shot haha. Fortunately I remembered. Then a whole bunch of ridiculous mix ups happened. Someone didn't verify me with 2 identifiers and reeled off appointment dates for someone else! Then the injection folks missed me and I basically was the last patient of their day due to it.

That's really pretty! Also, maybe you knew this, but painting it black first can make colors pop more, or at least appear differently (one of the Paint Nites I did had us do that--I need to get back into those...).
