Not a lever in sight. I trim for about 10 minutes, have to stop, take the little orange thing out, pull out some string, put the little spool back in, and start over. I am going to have to watch some youtube videos

Somehow you bump it on the ground or against the curb in a super secret way and that feeds more line out. At least, that's the case with the ones made in the last 10-15 years. I only know that fact. I am not privy to the knowledge necessary to actually execute said bump. Sorry!

Interesting association between therapists and weed whacking.

I like saying "Ulrich von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff."

Well, I do think of therapists like useless weeds (unlike the useful kind that you can use to make medicines with)

And who doesn't like saying it? Out of all the classical philologists - he has a great name

My daughters boyfriend doesnt think i like him. She asked if i did. I do like him but i am really no good with people and cant start a conversation. I feel bad that he thinks i dont like him. I will have to try harder. Apparently he isnt very good with people either.

Best baseball player name? Rock Shoulders (Rock short for Roderick). Best without a nickname: John Dickshot.

I also like saying Idi Amin Dada.

I always liked Donald J Grout - he wrote A History of Western Music - the music history textbook used everywhere when I was a music major in under grad.
And Edward Immwinkleried who wrote the major evidentiary foundation book and has been one of the most cited professors.
Learned Hand - a federal judge from the 2nd circuit who has the claim as the most cited circuit court judge by the sup ct and legal scholars

It usually takes the first years about a full semester or even year to not giggle at Learned Hand

Has anybody made corn ribs? How do you chop them? Seems like an office paper cutter would work, anybody remember those? I used to call them arm-choppers.

One guy recommended boiling the corn first to soften the corn core, but that seems like boiling meat before you bbq it, wth.
Thanks for this!

Those are still all over the place (at least in academia). It’s not really a constantly-developing cutting-edge technology.

(See what I did there?)

What is a corn rib? My mother had a device to cut the corn off the cob - it was very sharp, basically just a concave board with a razor in it. We were forbidden to touch it.

ETA - the pioneer woman
Using a sharp knife, carefully halve the ears of corn lengthwise (see Cook’s Note). Then, cut each half lengthwise, creating 4 equal pieces. Brush each with the olive oil and season the corn with the spice mix. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
Corn Ribs Recipe | Ree Drummond | Food Network

The cook's note = Ears of corn are very hard in the center and can be difficult to cut into halves and quarters. Make sure an adult is present and that you have a decent sharp knife.

The directions require an adult - do you have one?

Ive been reading about Denali! I love reading about mountain expeditions. The group dynamics and intra and interpersonal dynamics really come to the forefront.

Maybe that’s why I like reading about mountain and polar expeditions, too. I just finished one about the Belgica—where not only did they almost all get out alive, there even avoided cannibalism.

I can see doing a hot expedition but not a cold one. I don't like being cold. But I guess it is good that some people like to have the potential to freeze to death or plummet off a mountain - danger can make you feel alive.

Challenge with the md I have chosen to deal with (twice in one year - it seems I have turned into a hypochondriac). She does not truly understand the reason someone would say they are refusing an invasive test is because of how horrible it would be to endure it and have them not find something. There would be no relief - merely a feeling of over-reacting and having been an idiot for submitting.

I can empathise with that, SD. Several years ago, I had to have a test - when they gave me the technical term I Googled it to find out what it entailed. Somehow I missed the

Possible trigger:

They didn't find anything with that, either. Painful, and pointless.
