NP- the snacks box sounds like something my son would enjoy. Do you mind sharing a link or name so I can take a look?

Acupuncture has made a huge difference in my sleep. I remember *longing* for just one night of half-decent sleep, for years. Constant night waking, early morning waking. After a few sessions, I was getting decent sleep almost every night. After additional treatments for my tmj I started sleeping consistently and it's lasted even though I haven't been for a couple months. (Jaw clenching and tooth grinding, also gone.)

I'm still not sure I even believe in it, although I definitely believe in the curative effects of lying still for 20 minutes alone in a dark room. Whether it's real, placebo, magic, who cares?

Sure, no problem. 'Scandinavia' is only my second box, but it's kind of interesting to see what other countries snack on. Turkey was the first box, and by far the best snack was this Snowball type thing that was chocolate and coffee flavored, and I don't even like coffee, but it was delicious.

Chocolate is one of my favourite subjects - what America calls a Milky Way is known as a Mars bar in the UK. The UK Milky Way is similar to the US 3 Musketeers bar.

The UK box is funny. Some of those brands are well known (Mackies crisps are the best and I am a recognised crisp expert of many years training and specialist research) and all the snacks are popular. However, some of the brands are not well known or are really low quality. It's an uncanny box, a Stepford snack box if you will.

Oh hang on, unless some snacks are
specifically chosen because they are from Wales and Northern Ireland. I wouldn't know those snacks, I only know English and Scottish snacks. Huh, in which case this would be a pretty cool box. My my, you live and learn. I still have so much to discover about life.

Actually, this is really cool if they have broken down the snacks into the four nations. Usually, UK just translates as "England" which is boring and inaccurate. I wonder what the drinks would be. Scotland would be Irn Bru of course. Would Vimto be England's offering? Horlicks maybe? I would say tea but of course we stole that like we steal everything. Oh they could branch out and have a colonial box for the politically minded snack consumer. Tea, Bombay mix, gin.

Those boxes look amazing, wished they'd ship to here :P

Also, today I learned milky ways are not the same in Europe and the US. I always assume they are the same... our milky ways are like in the UK and Mars is the name of the US version too.

I do like licorice, but my brain isn't cooperating with the concept of adding it to a Milky Way. It's called 'Yankie Lakrids' and is from Denmark.

My friend has now lived in Finland for years. The first time she visited there, she brought back this licorice snack called (I'm sure I'm butchering the spelling) salmyaki. It was on one of the most vile things I've ever tasted, and I had to spit it out. Wonder if the licorice in the bar is similar, as it was also salty? (I know, different country, but nearby!) Trying to imagine a Milky Way involving that...

Apparently they even have a popular liqueur based on it. No thanks!

I used Universal Yums for a while, too, and it was good. I preferred the sweet snacks to the salty, but I thought it was a good value. Plus if there's a snack you really liked, you can go on their site and order more of just that one! (I stopped when I had the gastric bypass.)

I ordered some Salty Licorice from Jacobsen Salt Co. recently because I was curious. It has the texture of salt water taffy. You're expecting sweet but you get salty instead. It was rather interesting. Although I wouldn't say I loved it, I would eat more of it just for its interestingness. But what stopdog linked to sounds like something else entirely. Is that what you tried, LT?

Yeah, L is still pissed off. She did send the usual reminder text like an hour ago, but did not give her usual thumbs-up emoji to my confirming (also the norm) that I'll be there.

I am currently a bundle of nerves waiting for my appt in about 2 hours. Pocket riders welcome.

ps I'll put snacks in my pocket

Not sure--I think I blocked it out!

I do generally like salty/sweet things, like kettle corn or salted caramel ice cream.

Also, I apparently need to educate Dr. T on things Oreo--I mention Golden Oreos to him today (example of a thing that tempts me), and he was like, "What?" I mean, they've been around for a while now!

I finished IOP last night. I move into aftercare. My case manager is supposed to email me some paperwork so I can start aftercare. I think he is sick though so I won't bug him until Monday. I have an appointment today, the final one, with an individual therapist from IOP. Then on the 29th I start therapy with the new therapist that I saw once like a month and a half ago. I suddenly feel really scared because I don't have all that support. But I am relieved I can go home today, watch Matlock reruns, and don't have to be on the computer on Zoom by 5 for IOP.

Hugs, Artie. I'll ride along. I would try not to read too much into the lack of the thumbs-up. Maybe she was just busy/distracted or else thought a thumbs-up might seem inappropriate when you're talking about terminating.

When Dr. T sends me the Zoom link before each session, he generally will start with Hi [first name]. One time he didn't, and actually that time I didn't notice, but when I signed on, he immediately apologized, saying he was running late and just trying to get me the link. Since then he's left it off a few times, but I just keep assuming it doesn't mean anything.

I have no idea what to talk about in therapy today. This is unfortunate because this particular therapist always starts with "What do you want to talk about today?"

I know it is one night a week of group therapy for up to one year. What I don't know is if you have to pick a group and stay with it or if you can say go to the Monday group one week and the Thursday group the next week. (Which is kind of what I would want to do. I like both groups and both therapists and get a lot out of both.) I don't know if the whole "you can't SH thing or you will get kicked out" still applies. I will have to read the paperwork when my case manager sends it over.
