Morning couchies! Just had a couple minutes to pop on here and say that as I'm logging onto work. I like having my laptop on my desk in front of my work monitors haha

Hugs and head nods all around as appropriate.

Well, H's sister's husband (the unvaccinated one) just tested positive for Covid. We definitely made the right decision to not have them attend the Christmas Eve gathering at H's Mom's apartment. However, H's Mom, Dad, and Stepmom went down to the sister's house for Christmas Day, so they've all potentially been exposed now (we haven't been though). Sigh...Mostly worried for H's Mom, due to her various health issues (including diabetes), though she's fully vaxxed and boosted at least.

@@, thought of you and some other couchies reading the New York Times this morning--column on eye twitching (you likely need to be a subscriber to read). They mentioned similar stuff to what we did, that it's likely not serious, might be connected with stress, too much caffeine, and/or dry eyes. They suggested lubricant eye drops and trying magnesium, potassium, and calcium, among other things. Someone in the comments also mentioned B12.

Sorry to hear about your h's sister's husband. I hope nobody else comes down with it from being exposed, especially your h's mom.

He texted me earlier, and said they're both feeling better today, mostly just tired now, congestion not as bad as it was yesterday. Thanks for asking!

@@, this book just gets better the more of it I read (the ten thousand doors of january). i keep sneaking in reading a few paragraphs while I'm working and waiting for an account to finish loading or whatever. I almost want to get just sick enough to call in sick and stay in bed all day reading!

eta, as I just sneaked another paragraph, an example of our heroine describing the smell of a book (without giving anything away of the story, of course): "This one smelled unlike any book I'd ever held. Cinnamon and coal smoke, catacombs and loam."

Delicious writing.

Got hold of a cvs pharmacist, she said that either medicare or my insurance kept cancelling my booster at the last minute because they think it hasnt been 180 days since my last vaccine. Very strange. Not sure what to do. Maybe try to get a walkin somewheres.

Thanks. My eye is still twitching regularly. I’m quite sure it’s stress.

I’ve been using lubricating eye drops twice a day since my last eye exam in August because the ophthalmologist said I had dry eyes. So that is not the fix.

Were you not given a little card when you got your jabs, una? Failing that, would your PCP have it on file?

Yes i got the card. But some insurance, either medicare or blue cross, keeps cancelling my online scheduled appointment the morning of. Happened twice now.

Thats a good point, i have the card! I need to pick up meds probably this week. The cvs pharm lady said i wont get charged. Its just strange. I wonder if this is happening to anyone else.

I called the pharm that gave me my flu shot and they checked to make sure it was billed correctly. It is a puzzlement!

Could you sign up for the booster without putting in your insurance, then give it to them when you're there? Or not give them insurance at all, as it's free regardless?

I know you’re an honest woman*, ex-hankster, but you could also tell them it’s yoir first shot...

*except when it comes to fidelity in relationships, of course.

ETA: I’m in a mood—just told my mother to stop being passive-aggressive about something. Not winning Progeny of the Year this year.

Also that is like the worst thing I have ever said to her since I could talk.

Did some more work on my nephew's lapghan this evening. I've got only 2 squares left to make, then to sew them together, and then put some type of border around the whole thing. Looking forward to seeing how they come together - the squares are different shades of gray, each with a black border (his requested colors) so I'll be playing around with placement of the different shades. Pics to come once I get them sewn together!

Well, so far so good for h and I, neither of us have any symptoms (yet anyway). I read that it's a shorter time before symptoms start with omicron, around 3 days, and 3 days was today since we were with our son. I'm not sure when we should test, h wants to do it on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon, I was gonna wait until Friday morning and Saturday afternoon since I'm off both of those days.

I'm tired of thinking about it. Going to bed. Night, couchies.

But its the computer who is cancelling me! The humans understand!

One time i told my mother she was being a *****. I mean, she really was. And i dont think it was towards me, it was towards a friend of hers. And i didnt CALL her a *****, i said she was BEING a *****, that is, ACTING *****y. Boy did she get mad. She did not quite get the semantic difference, but i think she heard me. I think that is also one of the times i told her, just because i dont call her out on her meanness towards me, didnt mean i didnt clock it. Also yes that is the only time i used such language towards her.

You know how they say the bible (and the u.s. constitution etc,) could not anticipate modern times?

My GP is retiring. I didnt see the letter he sent 3 months ago. He is like my exact age. We have been together about half our lives! I told him, "you didnt tell me we were gonna get old!" He was always telling me i was gonna die. Didnt happen. I was always telling him he was screwing up by not prescribing me all these things that later provided people million dollar settlements. Well he was close to where i used to work, now i can find myself a local dr. We had a nice goodbye chat.

I hope nobody saw my rant. If you did, I apologize, I deleted it immediately after posting it. I'm just having an initial reaction and I'll get over it. I'm gonna go for a walk during my break to release some of this frustrated and overwhelming energy.

I just wish life could be settled for longer than a few months at a time. You know? But I guess life doesn't work that way, does it?

After hell month (january) is over, I'm planning to start the process of finding a new t that's covered by my insurance because (obviously) I still need therapy and I can see clearly now that I wasn't going to get what I still need, from L. Not saying I wasted the past 10 years with her, because I don't think I did, I was a total mess before I started working with her - and I'm a ton less of a mess than I was back in 2011. But whatever help I still need, is evidently a blind spot for her or something, so I need to find the rest of it somewhere else.

eta: I told h my frustration too. that helped.
