That's a hard call. Depends on your symptoms I think. I've gone to session with a cough, but I was a smoker, so I always had a cough. I go to my sessions if I'm nauseous ONLY if I know that I'm under extreme anxiety as well. I think you just learn to recognize anxiety symptoms from cold/flu/Covid symptoms. If you have a fever, definitely don't go. Fevers usually indicate your body is fighting off an infection.
It's just better to be safe than sorry.

So I had emailed my therapist around 8 this morning and told her I felt like I was ok to do the session. Then half an hour ago my doctors nurses called and said I have an atypical viral inflamation in my lungs. She said its not contagious and that I can go to my appointment. I don't have to quarantine or.anything.
So I do plan on going in person. I don't feel too bad right now and I just bought better quality masks today. But since the nurse said it was ok to go thats what I plan on doing

Soory, I answered before reading all the new posts. I think you're making the right call to go in person. Just stay warm outside

She admitted she was a bit freaked out that I had come in once I told her what was up. I told her the nurse had told me it was ok to go in and that I was not contagious My therapist told me I probably should have stayed home. I heard her asking the receptionist for lysol on my way out.
The session was productive at least.

Honestly, despite what the nurse said, I personally would have not attended out of consideration to others. Medical professionals have been known to get it wrong. Viruses are contagious at some point, and even if you are theoretically beyond that contagious period . . . if you are still not 100%, it just would have been smart to stay away a bit longer. But it's done at this point -- Lysol was probably a smart move on her end just to be safe.
I've avoided some meetings as of late very specifically because I was being as careful as possible for the health of others even though I was pretty certain I was no longer contagious -- I just did not in any way want to risk it or make others uncomfortable. |

Yeah you're right. I should have had at least checked in with her first to see what she was comfortable with.

Since the start of COVID I have only been doing teletherapy. Before Covid, have always told my therapist when I have had symptoms of colds or whatever. I let them decide. They have always said they are okay with seeinf me in person. When we get back to in-person sessions that will likely change. I want to always be honest. Trust is a 2 way street.
