Hugs all around to those who need/want and head nods as appropriate.

Happy to have a 2 day weekend again! We were gonna go out to breakfast early this morning (while very few people there) but neither one of us wanted to get up that early haha so we went back to sleep. I woke up again luxuriously late and cooked breakfast, and now I'm making more worry worms, I just love how they curl around naturally as you crochet. here's big sis and lil sis:

Thanks, Kit. Crocheting is so calming/relaxing for me and making these little things is even more helpful because I finish them so quickly, there's no pressure of having an unfinished project staring at me day after day like when I make big things. I want to get back to making afghans again, but for right now, these little things that I complete quickly are just the ticket! The almost immediate feeling of accomplishment after I finish one is just what my soul needs lately.

I hear you Artie. I am working on a rather intensive painting that is taking me a long time to complete. It feels like it will never be done, though it is starting to take shape. I only have like one hour maybe on the weekends to work on it so it is this big huge undone project that haunts me. Meanwhile I am learning Calligraphy. It is kick to write out some letters and feel accomplished! So, I get how you feel. I am not the best at Calligraphy yet but it is faster than a painting! I can do a couple of pages in about a half an hour. Very satisfying indeed. HUGS To you!

After I took some anxiety medication I started feeling a lot better. The urges don't seem so bad. I think I can get through the weekend. Julieanne will be pleased. Heck! I'm pleased. I am taking care of myself.

I saw this quote on FB. It's a little cheesy but I liked it because it made sense to me, "Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for taking care of."

I ordered my niece a subscription to Sketchbox. I hope it helps with her depression/anxiety/stress. She likes to paint, draw, be creative so hopefully it will expand that outlet for her. I'm trying to support her the best way I know how. I told her she wouldn't get it until about 3/1 but she said that's okay--Good things are worth waiting for! She's such a sweetheart. I can't wait to see her next month for my Dad's 70th. We won't have tons of one on one time but maybe I can take her to Starbucks or something a little fun. Just her and I.

Oh that’s fun! I would probably get five bombed as well.

Folx, the continuation of my car saga: I was at the car rental place at 8:45 this morning, ready to drive it to NY. I stop at the bank, and when I go to pull out of the parking lot (in reverse), it goes FORWARD.

So i wait two hours for a tow truck, take another Uber back to the car rental place. On the way over, my family convinces to just get a flight to go out tonight, bc the weather is pretty crappy, and I didn’t even get back to the car rental place until 1pm.

So I go back home, book the flight and cry bc this has been a pretty bad (birth)day. An hour later, my flight is cancelled.

At this point i think i just shut down, very exhausted. The flight got rescheduled to tomorrow morning, getting into NY at 1:30. Now the car dealership closes at 5, so if I have any more delays I am screwed.

The universe is against me.

Hugs, Velcro. I hope it all works out for you. Is it possible they could hold the car for an extra day or two?

And I feel weird saying this under the circumstances, but Happy Birthday!

I saw the orthopedic yesterday! He said there's nothing he can do about my left knee even though the MRI does show deterioration behind the kneecap. For the right knee, he wants a MRI before deciding treatments. He did prescribe me new pain meds. I took it last night and it didn't work. I'm in so much pain.

Today's session with L went really good! But I'm struggling with thinking it was all a fantasy or I was delusional. I'm having difficulty trusting her, us, even myself. I hate the adjustment period when she comes back from vacation. And this one has been especially hard because of the wedding.

Thanks LT. Not a good birthday by far, and I never even like them in the first place. The word possible scenario is I get the car Monday, but I'd have to miss work, and we don't have any subs, so that makes it REALLY hard.

I was in high school around 1984 -89. Does anyone alive during that time remember this fear that the world was going to end due to a nuclear war? Just curious because I remember that fear, but don't remember ever talking about it with anyone.

I know I pissed my dad off because I listened to the song "Russians" by Sting and he worked for the US government at the time.

Isnt that around the time they took down that wall? So wasnt it détente? The Reagan years?

Eta - altho i do think there was worry about Ronny dialing in the middle of the night and setting off stuff. IIRC, there was a lot of moving nuclear warheads around, like to Nevada.

I was in elementary and middle school during that time, and I recall some sort of worry about it. I hated the idea that someone could just hit a button and destroy an entire country or state. And I felt like if the US did that to someone, they'd just retaliate. I grew up within an hour of DC, so I figured I'd be in the likely strike zone, too.

The only time I remember that fear was when Qaddafi was threatening to bomb the US. My class was stuck inside at recess, I guess because of the weather, and the teacher had the radio on, following the story. Some of the kids were panicking.

But I think that was a much more real and present, publicly-expressed fear in the earlier days of the Cold War (bomb drills in classrooms, major Hollywood plot device), less so in the 1980s, especially after Gorbachev came to power, but also because, like LT said, there was a kind of resigned feeling.

The Berlin Wall came down in 1989. I was glued to the news—the East Berliners were so giddy with joy.

No - I don't really remember being afraid of nuclear war or anything like that as a small child. I was terrified of nuns. By the 80's I was in college and law school and didn't own a tv - very freeing

We had some kind of bomb drills that I still remember in 1st grade. We had to hunch down under our desks. I also remember some kind of drill or other through grade school (in the 1960's) where we lined up & down each side of the hallway in single file hunkered down with our hands over our heads. I don't know if that was bomb drills or tornado drills. They all scared the heck out of me.

I found that rfd tv channel has old porter waggoner shows with a young Dolly Parton and old grand ole opry shows - It is a riot. The costumes alone are worth watching for

I blame that television movie "The Day After." IMDB says it was on in 1983; I would have been 9 years old and it really did a number on me. It was all about nuclear war and how it impacted this small farming community in Kansas. We lived in a small farming town in Ohio, so I felt really vulnerable.

My parents did not restrict my media access. If they watched it, I watched it too. None of this everyone having their own TV in their bedroom stuff, let alone streaming and whatnot. You kids get off my lawn!

Twice now I’ve asked Visa for an emergency session (things aren’t going well these days).

Both times—the previous one was in December—she’s just had someone cancel and a rare open spot. (Clients schedule their own sessions on her website. She’s booked solid.)

Do people cancel on her a lot, I wonder? I’m not that lucky a person.
