I hope so too, Kit! I concur, switching 3 meds at 1 go sounds excessive. My pdoc has only switched 1 at a time.

She said they'd put me in the women's group and the groups are based off of DBT and CBT. It sounded intriguing, however, I'm not willing to give up my Friday session with L, it's a far drive and they don't do telehealth, and I don't really want to fill up my week with groups. So I think I'm going to turn it down. But I may be interested in a skills DBT group in the future.

One great thing about going: I told the nurse I hate my new pdoc. She said a lot of people feel that way. So she gave me a list of other pdocs. I contacted 2 and one already got back to me. My appointment is Monday! I said I was looking for a kind pdoc, and they still responded to me. So maybe...? I have a little bit of hope.
I'm glad you talked to the nurse and that she has a list of other pdocs.

Back from dr appt, she said my thyroid levels are out of whack so I have to go next week for more lab work and she said she may be changing my meds. She looked at my chart and then at me and goes "wait, you're 60? That's such a weird age." i'm all tell me about it. haha

You'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now about not bringing up certain things right at the end of session, but apparently not! Sigh.

I'm sorry, LT. Hugs if wanted.

Thanks, Artie. I'll take the hugs. It is a difficult lesson to learn! I mean, it will be OK

It's just awkward when I know it's time to leave, but I'm grabbing another tissue so I'm not a weepy mess stepping into the waiting room, saying, "I really am leaving!" and "You're sure it's OK I mentioned that, right?" and "I'm sorry."

It was stuff about how I'd asked his backup (who I saw Tuesday) if I could ever potentially see her on occasion when Dr. T is not away (as we've had some helpful discussions), and she'd said it could be an option, but I'd of course have to talk about it with Dr. T.

Yes, probably a stupid thing to bring up at all, let alone at the end of a session. But I'd told Dr. T that I'd done better with his being away this time, and he said maybe it was partly that I felt comfortable with R and getting support from her.

So I mentioned it. Which led to him saying, "She's probably a better therapist than I am in many ways," to which I said, "And you're better than she is in many ways," and he replied, "Maybe." I said it wasn't that I wanted to switch to her entirely. Just to have the option to occasionally talk to her about particular topics. He said, "Or if it felt like there were loose ends" (from the backup sessions). I said yes, though I didn't feel loose ends from this most recent one.

He then said, "I'd be open to a conversation about it, but I see where it could cause problems." So, just an awkward ending.

HUGS LT

If it makes you feel better, you are not the only one who does this.

Last session with my T, I asked her with about 5 minutes left, if therapists think differently about their clients when they get out of the hospital? Of course, what I was really asking was how does she think of me after I got out of IP. She seemed puzzled and didn't give me the answer I wanted. Definitely should have brought that up sooner. I think she said something about unconditional positive regard. Kit

Hugs, Kit! I'm sure I'd have had a similar question as you. It's odd she was puzzled about it. Maybe something to talk about more with her next session?

Nosy question. Are you on levothyroxine? Did your hair fall out? They just put me on this and I'm terrified my hair is going to fall out and it's already thinning as it is.

Yes, that's what I'm on but I've never noticed hair loss. Then again I have always had very thick, coarse hair so depending on the amount of hair lost I may not have noticed it. I hope that you don't experience any hair loss, thinking good thoughts for you.

I appreciate Dr. T. I sent him a brief email a couple hours ago with some anxiety about the end of session and checking in that he was OK with things.

He replied a little bit ago with "Everything is okay - I understood what you were saying and all is well." So that really helped.

Today is 6 months without my guy. I'm so sad. Luckily, I had therapy tonight, so I guess it was "good" I could cry in there.

My hair stopped falling out when I started levothyroxine. When my levels are a little low, it tends to fall out more. (I also felt more energy and lower anxiety.)

I saw T yesterday, in between holidays - she was away for two weeks prior, meaning that I hadn't seen her for two and a half weeks, but she goes away again shortly so I won't see her for another two weeks.

I've never had to deal with this before - a T taking two holidays in one month!

We did have a nice session though. We got everything sorted out. I just want this month to be over.

I've been on Levothyroxine for years. No hair thinning or hair falling out. The hair thinning/falling out can happen if your dosage is not right.

I'm glad the session went well, Lonely! Though I'm sorry she's going away again. I think mine took two vacations in one month a few years ago, but each was only a week long. It contributed to some conflicts between us, though.

Hmm... I hadn't even made the connection between my heightened anxiety and constant worry about every.little.thing the past several months and my thyroid levels being off. I'm glad my doc ordered this next set of labs.

I can understand why it would. I'm not impressed that T is taking two in such a short space of time but I do understand her reasoning. I'm glad that at least she won't be going so far this time (relatively speaking, as she'll still be abroad) and it's only a week's holiday, but I'm dreading the stress of wondering whether her flight was okay and all that stuff. That's really what I hate most about it. Now I have to do it all over again.
