Wow, Artie, that's scary. I'm glad you went in and that they were able to figure it out. Hugs, hope your treatment and healing goes smoothly.

LT- Hope you can enjoy your time to recharge alone. It's important, especially when the people in your life need a lot from you. Hugs for you too.

Thanks all. I'm still here in the hospital, had a really bad reoccurrance of the pain last night (apparently they jumped the gun a little having me try liquid diet) so I'm back to ice chips. I just woke up, pain-free so that's good. Una, you're right actually dr said it was likely somehow cause by my appendix surgery being unusual, they had to go in from my opposite side remember, I guess that caused residual trauma or something. My sister bless her heart flew out last night to be with me. Dr said ill be on blood thinners the rest of my life now.

I'm sorry you were in so much pain, Artie! Glad you're pain-free now and hope that continues. Also that your sister is there with you. Sorry about the blood thinners... Gentle hugs.

Yeesh I can't stay out of the bathroom this morning I'll be cleaned out enough for a colonoscopy at this rate! I had to cancel the gyn appt since it's doubtful I'll be released today. They said I have to tolerate solid foods before I can go home. This is gonna be expensive ugh but I guess I can't worry about that rn. I need to call HR and start the fmla process.

We've had two. The first one we had to switch to phone halfway through. The second one was plagued with video issues and we had to end it early. I think we're supposed to have one tomorrow, but we'll see. I'm lucky he's doing this at all for me, but it's still been hard.

That does sound really difficult. I hope the one tomorrow works out and doesn't have any techical issues.

Young adults who embrace "lying flatism" also tend to see romantic relationships as unnecessary for happiness

I always knew i was ahead of my time. I'm a gen z at heart.

Plus - "lying flatism"? Is that great or what?! AND they did not say LAYING!!!
Thanks for this!

Hi guys. I'm hanging on somehow. Still in the hospital, tomorrow will be day 6 or 7 ive lost count. They have me on IV nutrients through a PICC line now cuz I still can't eat. I am sicker than I've ever been in almost 61 years. I'm really scared. I broke down sobbing earlier. The only saving grace is my sister flew in to sit with me during visiting hours.

I'm so scared

Hugs, Artie. I'm sorry you're unable to eat and feeling so awful and scared. Maybe your intestines just need a bit more time to heal? I hope you start feeling better soon.

Oh, Art.

I know you don’t want to ask L to come and visit because she might say no, but maybe she would do a phone session? It sounds like it would really help. And you guys have done phone sessions before.

Are you still in the ICU?
Thanks for this!

I was thinking this, too, about a phone session. Though I guess there's not privacy in the ICU? If that's the case, maybe talking to her for a few minutes, so you can hear her voice (if that might help). Then exchanging some texts or emails? (Like taking up the time of a session.)

I talked on the phone to my t in 2012 when i had my weird stroke like thing. I could tell he was doing chores or something but it was still a comfort. But it was also a little weird. Mostly we talked about the illness.

I texted with mine briefly when I was in the ER for heart palpitations like 4 years ago. It was partly because I had to reschedule my session. I wish I'd asked if I could have kept the session and texted with him instead. Or done that for 30 minutes. I wanted to just say, "I'm so scared" but didn't. (It ended up being dehydration from a bug, but I was afraid I was having a heart attack. My H and D were already at the beach, where I was supposed to drive that morning.)

Thanks LT. I'm in a regular room now so could have privacy aside from Dr's and nurses. I'm going to ask for a phone session. She wanted to call me when I canceled Friday but I was way too out of it then.
