So i had therapy 4 years ago, with ex-t of 4 years. Looking to start again with a new one (only got 6 sessions) as I’m getting depressed again and idk what’s wrong. (I’m being fine past 4 years).
Even though I trusted her deeply (took me along time to trust her but eventually did) and we had a good relationship, I wasn’t ready to share everything with her. Now I find I keep crying about stuff from the past and want to talk it through with someone new. (I keep going back and forth thinking it’s not even a big deal etc etc). Would it be weird to just talk about in the first or second session? I feel ready to talk about it I don’t know if I should post here what it was, don’t want to trigger anyone Thank you |

Hi @Grapejuice welcome to MSF. I am sorry you are having feelings coming up. You can talk about your feelings in general terms if you care to.
Graphic descriptions do tend to trigger some people so I find it better to describe the situation as trauma or abuse for example rather than give all the details of what happened. This might be good with your therapist too. I find if I need to vent details, that a journal either written or audio works. I tend to want to seek how to cope with the situation rather than keep digging it up, but exploring it to find out how I feel is something I have done. Hope you get the support you are looking for. @CANDC Message me (click on CANDC to the left of this message and send private message) if you need the trigger code for a post

Do what feels right to you. If opening up in the first couple sessions feels good, then go for it. Trust your instincts. I basically wrote L a letter before our first session telling her all my issues and what I want to work on. She loved it. And when it came time to opening up about traumas, I did what felt right.
