Thanks for explaining Art. I do like poetry, but not examined it since English classes in secondary school.

Mr Batch also has created a recording of the Keats poem “Ode to a Nightingale”, which is worth listening to.

That’s why he he was also in a marvel movie playing Dr Strange. (I might be wrong with the character name. Not seen the movie for a while, but it was about time travel and someone else who wanted to collect stones which gave him power).

I appreciate the differences. On message boards you can get a sense of which side of the pond someone's on just through spelling (those extra u's) or the words they use, like mum, lift, uni. "Pants" always throws me though. I mean we do have panties but it can still get a bit confusing. I usually know what they mean with other words though.

I love when someone describes something as "pants", to say it's bad. It just sounds so cute!

What annoys me is when these people come on and insist British spelling is incorrect. I dont know if they are trolling? Or if they are eleven year olds who have just learned to spell? Or "merons!"

We do now, but I've not tried it.

They also brought back Wendy's.. I've only have the veg options, so didn't find it that impressive.

I'm not sophisticated. Just give me onion rings and fries

I have a British friend, and occasionally, when we're messaging, she'll say something, and I'll be like, "What? Is that maybe some British expression?" (can't think of an example now!) And she's done the same with me.

We've had some interesting discussions about language and how words can have different connotations there vs. here. Like, a particular word could be rather offensive in the U.S., but is used there all the time.
Thanks for this!

Yeah like they use "the past tense of 'twit'" quite casually. I would move there just for that. And pants.

Speaking of which, how awful for Princess Katherine. And poor William. And now i wonder what horrible thing Harry will conjure up.

And vice versa. Fanny means something different over there.

You're probably talking about their slang for a cigarette.

I thought of fanny, too! And wasn't thinking of the cigarette. More a particular term that's generally just used toward women here, but is offensive, where there, they use it for both genders and it's more like "idiot."

I think the Australians are quite fond of that word too. I think they use it in a banter-y way as well as an insult. Not sure how it got a bad rap in the US but it's pretty offensive for sure.

H & I spent the day up in Scottsdale today, our friend from CA who owns a condo up there is in town for the Giant's Spring Training, so we drove up to spend the day with him. It was fun, eating lunch out and browsing all the cool shops up there. Super expensive haha so we didn't buy anything in any of them, but it was fun to look anyway! We just got home a few minutes ago.
Thanks for this!

Thats what i said, the "past tense" of twit. I heard it described as that in some reading and thought it ever so clever.

Like somebody said about a person, "what a twit!" And another person said, "hmph past tense."

Four letter word that starts with a C ends with a T, is said a lot.

My friend told me she got told off for saying “rubber” legend she was 10.

The hot new word on twitter which I’ve seen is “ based”.

The Urban dictionary is a good read, if you want to keep up with the kids.

Maybe you could start planning more day trips?

You know those bags of snacks where they toss in different foods and sell them to you - I hate them. I don't want my pretzels to have chocolate or yogurt or whatever on them. I don't want m&ms chucked willy nilly into everything. Nonpareils with sprinkles? why god why? why would anyone inflict those on others? Random mixed nuts stuck together with sweet but unidentified goo that gets the salt and crumbs stuck to it? What nut hating monster does this?

I am on a road trip with someone I thought I knew and this was the sort of snack they brought. I tried some on their insistence that it tastes better than it looks. We are now sticking to our own snacks.

We called it GORP when I was in the backpacking girl scout troop many years ago. "Gobs of Raisins and Peanuts" it stands for. I guess some call it trail mix too. I think it's good! There are definitely two types of people... snack purists and those who like GORP.

No this goes beyond GORP - I can handle gorp because, while I do separate out the unadulterated components, they are recognizable in and of themselves - I can eat the raisins and then the peanuts. Or if being very adventurous - I can eat two peanuts followed quickly by a raisin.
I am talking about where the components themselves have been messed with and then combined with other effed up components and shoved into a bag with some m&ms thrown on top and handed to innocent snack needing passengers like it is some kind of manna from heaven. The hander was positively swooning over handfuls of the goop. This is GOOP not GORP.

(think of trader joes jingle jangle or this Yogurt Mix – Nuts To You -with stupid m&ms tossed in for good measure)
Is there anything worse than biting in to something like almonds and getting an m&m in there? The texture is wrong, the taste is wrong, and the color is most unsettling.

Good Ol' Raisins 'n' Peanuts is what the bearded computer hiker hippies in my day used to say. Oh they were insufferable. The presursors to liberated men.

Forensic guy is going to be a professor and not going to be around as much, but he will help me find somebody who's available regularly. I really appreciate that, he thought he could be around more often and as soon as he realized said he'd invest time of his own into finding somebody. Glad I'm not too attached to him, so it's gonna be alright.

Regular T is having chemo right now, as well as just finished radiotherapy. He's doing alright, just losing his hair pretty much...
