Write them an email to complain.

Dear housing folks/ evil owner (delete as appropriate) .

I am writing regarding the recent update to the wash machines in our apartment complex. I was taken by surprise to discover that the wash machines had been updated without any prior notification.

As a result of this update, I now find myself in possession of over a hundred dollars in rolled quarters that are now essentially useless to me. Had I been informed about the update beforehand, I would have been able to plan accordingly and avoid this inconvenience.

I understand that updates and improvements are necessary for the maintenance of the apartment facilities, but communication with residents is equally important. It would have been greatly appreciated if residents were informed in advance about the changes to the wash machines, allowing us to prepare accordingly.

Moving forward, I kindly request that the management ensures better communication regarding any future updates. Additionally, I would appreciate any assistance in finding a solution for the surplus quarters that I now have.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution.

Signed Una OooOooOoooO

So the summer workshop that wasn’t going to provide captioning changed their minds and said they would. Great.

Then they just send me an email saying “We’ve booked your ASL interpreters!”

Can't you just deposit the quarters back in the bank?

Well...at least they're trying, I guess? If not the best at reading comprehension. Hopefully, they can provide what you actually need.

Ha! Lost was right! Power to the Professor, right on! (Yes its the 60s again only different.)

Actually i might take my quarters to the farmers market this summer. They only take their own tokens now. And maybe money. Otherwise i will just have to start drinkin and tippin bartenders i reckon.

They are just regular quarters? I don't understand why you can't spend them or put them back in the bank? Surely easier than getting worked up

Not getting worked up. Its like my own version of bitcoin. Its heavy to tote to the bank. But the farmers market could work.

Did two loads of laundry tonight, bedding and towels. I dont really like having to leave bluetooth open while the machines run.

your original post was a little confusing. Do you really never use cash in day to day life?
My bank has a coin counter -and we keep a large coin jar - so once a year I go dump it to deposit and it takes about an hour to dump and get all the coins sorted.

My day to day life. I rarely even leave my apartment. But if i do, the bus is free and Uber is paid by app. The little store closed but will soon become a Korean barbecue. The vegan restaurant on the premises gave me the runs last time i ate there. My groceries and necessities are delivered by app. So... nope. Im paperless, cashless. If i were younger, i wouldnt need a quarter for the tampon machine because they are free in our city's restrooms. Altho not at stores.

I have to remember to get cash to tip drug delivery and apartment maintenance folks. They might start getting quarters!

Actually, it’s widely considered offensive to assume a deaf person knows ASL. It would be like assuming someone with a Hispanic last name knows Spanish.

In any event, I am not getting an impression of competence, so I decided to withdraw..

So do supermarkets.

Ah - I rarely app anything. For some reason, I dislike apping.

I think I was struck by the phrase "useless dollars in rolled quarters" - I mean how are the dollars useless if they are money that can be deposited back into the bank.
I have been grading student exams. Reading so many of the law school student exam answer equivalence of "It was a dark and stormy night...." has taken its toll.

So i looked up the farmers market website, and one of the faqs was, "can we buy tokens with cash?" Answer yes. So thats a goal, get my fanny down to the farmers market this summer.

I'm sorry, ATAT.

I hope you still get the captioning if you say no (I'm trying to be polite here...) to the interpreters.

I hadn't considered it that way--I'm sorry. I was just thinking maybe they'd misunderstood your request somehow. They do sound incompetent, so withdrawing is likely your best option. Maybe you can find something similar that is competent and accommodating.

It bugs me when people don't consider what they're offering properly.

I went to an origami workshop about 10 years ago at a local health food shop.
I rang beforehand to ask about access.

'There are 13 steps, but you'll be fine.'

I got to the venue to discover a slatted staircase, with gaps in between.

When I needed to use the facilities, I had to ask one of the waitresses to assist me down the stairs.

Possible trigger:

After I turned red, they remembered that there was another staircase.

Beautiful picture, Artie.

I'm grateful for people who can take pictures and stay upright, because I have to choose one or the other.

The problem with interpreters is also that I don’t know ASL.

So it's the equivalent of them offering a Spanish interpreter when you only know French. Not helpful at all.

We drove over to the coast today, to the uppermost corner of Oregon, walked out on a jetty not far from where the Columbia river enters the ocean. And we saw whales! 3 of them. The closest any of them came was about 100 feet from where we were standing. It was amazing, one of them was huge, looked like he was about 40 feet long. My son and his gf had not seen any whales yet so it was double exciting seeing them with him today! Here's a pic of one of them, verrrrry close to the jetty.
