As it was Memorial Day, don’t forget Aaron Bushnell.

My cat must be part of the feline mafia - he left another decapitated bird on the back porch - I heard him at 3am thumping out there and I let him inside - it seems the thumping was an unfortunate goodfellow incident.

Right before our most recent round of tornados (I think they reported 5 or six confirmed ones on Sunday) my area reported that the tornado sirens were not working. They still sent out the texts but usually we get a loud siren warning which means doom is near. The city I live in is so horrible they can't even keep the sirens going.

Funny you mention the feline mafia. I have a dog that is part of the K9 mafia. Recently a groundhog met its demise.

We have had a bad few days. The tornadoes in Texas that killed 7 are just a few miles up the road. Then this morning we woke up to high winds and rain. 80mph gusts. Trees down all over the place. Lots of people without power. We’re fine, but many have a mess to deal with.

My sister's dog is too, after causing a bunny to meet its unfortunate demise.

Penelope joined that club recently via an unfortunate incident with a mouse. Well, unfortunate for the mouse. Penny was happy with herself.

New cat, though she regularly plots world domination, has never actually shed blood. Doesn’t want to stain her nice white paws.

I love dogs but sometimes they remind you they're still wild animals.

I used to live in a rural area with acres of woods behind our house. We had three dogs at the time. Well, two but one just hung out at our place all the time so she became ours by osmosis. I don't think they killed it because it didn't look that fresh, but somebody found a dead fawn in the woods and brought it home. It then became a territorial issue because no one wanted to share their prize. A fight broke out. I wasn't happy because I now had to intervene in a situation involving a not-so-tiny dead baby animal. Then later they're being all cuddly and you forget again how wild they actually are.

Ancient cat who is no more was completely useless - one time my two dogs and and ancient cat all were lying around and staring at my space heater - there was a mouse under there - none of them would touch it. I had to dispatch it myself. Ancient cat had zero hunting skill and inherited cat is like a psycho daniel boone

Some of the people i follow also have such pets and put then on their posts... without warning! Maybe i am getting too close to the time when such creatures may be nibbling on my toes, but they repulse me. I didnt know i could still move that fast!

My dogs have done stuff in pack mode that they would never do individually. Usually it happens when they are with friend dogs (bad influences - my precious angels are victims of peer pressure) who lead the way. The two I have now are the dog equivalent of my clients - the c students who follow. Good natured but not too bright (although I usually attribute more laziness than stupidity to the dogs). In WWII they tried to use my breed to be guard dogs but the dogs would not consistently bite or attack so they became couriers but I don't think they excelled at that job either. There are no statues of them like there are of Balto or Greyfriars Bobby or Hachiko.

The Body Shop apparently went bankrupt in NA. They have a lavender and vetiver body butter marketed for sleep that I use at night because it is a very relaxing scent. People are now basically scalping their products online. I could only find it marked up about 1.7x. Really annoying. I'm trying to find something similar smelling that I can use.

Why should they bother? They cornered it and left the honors for you, their servant.

Try having a look at smaller independent companies or those natural health food stores. Whole foods too maybe?

Ha! Well, they'd probably be wheeking (noise they make) for food if an intruder came in, hoping they'd get fed, so maybe that would scare someone off? "Oh, this strange man came in--perhaps he is here to feed us!"

Aw, that sucks. And I hate when people are trying to make a profit off something like that. Hope you can find a dupe. There are lots of similar lavender products out there, but unsure about one that has vetiver as well.

I don't usually care that much for lavender, but the vetiver dials it back a bit and it's just a nice combo. I bought a pillow spray on amazon with lavender, bergamot, vetiver and chamomile, but it's nowhere near as nice. I'll keep looking I guess.

I like light lavender scent but lavender can be overpowering in some of the lotions etc. Etsy has several lavender/vetiver balm sellers. I used to get some unscented beeswax from one of them.
