I am very glad about that, because I do not own more than two pairs of long pants... I even wear shorts when it snows.

It was a very lovely first meeting. Already made some friends, and it's kind of hilarious how nobody knows how to get around campus. It's an old monastery, lots of doors leading to random places, the principal showed us around and got lost. It was real fun, excited for the start of the year next week.

Sounds like a neat place! Funny about you all getting lost--that's how some of my school dreams go.

Thanks, Cake.

The last time there was actual chocolate in the house was at Easter.
I'm getting better at not buying it or looking for it.

Possible trigger:

I am well aware that I struggle to identify what I am feeling, and food is a good option for making it go away quickly.

I define it as nice slacks and shirts with low-heeled boots. (And yes, ex hankster, undergotchies.)

Definitely gendered expectations that women will dress up more. I have a male colleague who teaches in shorts and tshirts, but he never grew up.

Look better than the students, is my rule. I will wear jeans sometimes on Fridays if it has been a long week.

I am business casual if meeting with some admin or when teaching. IF I am just on campus for some reason or just holding office hours - I will wear shorts or jeans and sweatshirt. The students wear suits if interviewing or in a clinic with a court appearances - otherwise they dress like toddlers who have no adult supervision. Men in particular tend to do things like wear flip flops in icy winter time classes because they lost their shoes or jammy bottoms because they are saving up a semester's worth of laundry to take home for spring break or something.

I am pleased to report I tried my hand at ice cream again, chocolate this time, and with whole milk it turned out like ice cream.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with the rennet tablets in my pantry. I’m trying to go through as much of the odder foodstuffs I’ve acquired.

The college kids I used to know would always tell me that the laundry room washers stink. There was one kid who went home weekly. (I was a local and a night student for the short time I was in college so I just took a short bus ride back and forth everyday). I don’t think that was necessarily true. I think his parents were just very well off and so they had the means to fly him back and forth weekly. The people who had no other choice than to use the provided washing machines didn’t stink.

Actually, your story yesterday reminded me of when i used to walk to work in the late 70s. The route was mostly a main drag and i found many car parts - tail light, hub cap. I figured if i worked there long enough, i could construct my own car, like the Detroit auto workers who smuggle out one piece a day.

But your comment today - well obviously god made me a comedian in spite of myself. I am funny in my sleep. But i couldnt do it without the little people.

I found using a printable feelings chart useful for identifying what I was feeling. If you search for that you’ll get lots of examples. Pick which one you feel fits the best.

Do you drink tea? Fruit tea can sometimes help with the cravings, or drinking milk too for me.

Thanks Cake,

Those are great tips.
I drink tea, but balance issues mean I'm stuck in the kitchen with it if I make it.
I've been drinking blackcurrant cordial, and that helps.

Glad you’ve got some relief. That’s also the fancy way of saying Ribena. My grandfather would always buy the large bottles in bulk.

There’s also the cold infusion teas, you can get from Sainsbury’s and co. You could add them to normal water, without having to boil a kettle.
