For those in or out of therapy still struggling with past trauma, have you found it helpful at all to stop talking about it?

I haven't talked about it since I left therapy it's a story to tell. But there are certainly triggers out there .

I had therapy for it but terminated it myself because therapy just kept me in it. Much improved without therapy. I have gone back to therapy briefly for sometimes other related issues.

You know how the cooking shows say to let meat rest after you take it out of the oven, so the juices redestribute and it finishes coming up to temperature?
That happens after therapy, too. It's a whole separate thing. You tent it with aluminum foil - you protect yourself now in ways you didn't before. For me it's been a long process. It's been a long process just learning to take care of myself. |

At first it felt awful since I stopped therapy. While I was in therapy it was really uncomfortable. I have taught myself to say some words without it making me feel nauseous .

After 20yrs of therapy with same T I don't have the urge to talk about it... It feels addressed, not forgotten but addressed and not raw anymore.. I can think it through.

Sometimes it is good to be selective who you share with and what. Sometimes it is better to process things with a few close friends. I find being in the middle of a divorce that it can be such an exhausting process to keep updating everyone on what is happening and sometimes I just find it easier to be quiet with my own feelings and to give myself time for reflection and healing. Does anyone else feel like this? Susan

Yes also it's good to share with the right person and the right setting. I feel that when I'm frustrated my triggers act up and. Rightow with this new job I started I'm very triggered.
