It's one of those days today, full of conflict within.

Good things are happening in my life and I don't know where I'm heading.

I recently received a certificate from the CPD Division of clinical Psychology which is doctoral level. I'm doing a heap load of training with them. That's cool, yeah? But I don't have a degree so how come they are letting me do doctoral level?

Whenever I mention this to people they are like super duper excited for me but all I can think of is.... what the hell am I doing???

Maybe they made a mistake giving me the certificate?

I didn't really realize what it was and handed it to my boss at work and he put it in my folder, but it's dawning on me now....... this could all change my life. For the better but I'm not good with change.

At work at the moment I just work with children with special needs. I don't get paid much but it's a very rewarding job. What happens when I have finished all this clinical psychology training? I want to continue working with children.

I don't know what the %#@&#! I'm doing!!! Sometimes I think maybe I'm just completely mad, but heck I've been working really hard.

I guess I have got to stop thinking about it all and just get on with it. T is away this week so I can't speak to him, so thanks for listening friends.

I'm either confused or in denial.

I am being formally elected into the DCP as a General member next week.

Am still confused.

Why can't you continue as you're doing, just with nice training that helps pad the "bottom" if you fall? I don't think anyone is going to drag you, kicking and screaming, into a life you don't want?

When I first went to the dentist when I was 5, after a year or two I got to know the dental hygenist, "Brownie," a nice older woman, very comforting, etc. but she started talking about how, when I grew up, I could be a dental hygenist. Problem is, I didn't understand how that worked and thought when I grew up some group of adults or something would tell me what I had to work at and I really didn't want to be a dental hygenist :-) It worried me quite a bit for a few years until I could understand that one got to pick what one wanted to do.

No, I'm just an affiliate/contributor member, or that's what I joined as, also a member of the psychotherapy section and soon to be a General Member of the DCP. Confusing isn't it!

So they are letting a 'little' member do the big stuff?

Mmm.... I got two Members to sign a form three years ago. So I was elected back then, but the DCP training is a new thing.

Do you know what? I'm really confused! It's making me laugh!

Mmm.... I have had a stressful day, I went in to see my boss and pretty much said what I have said here. Being confused and all.

He just said, 'Keep going! The world will be your oyster!' Feeling particularly thick at the time I just thought, I'm not sure if I like oysters...

Your oyster thing made me laugh. I think it's incredible to have the votes of confidence and the opportunity to learn. I agree, take it and learn as much as you can as knowledge is always useful. I think it's very cool.

Don't know if this fits but....My spouse gets a few free courses a year. He already hold advanced degrees and certifications in education but he keeps taking classes. I asked him why do all of the bother since I hate acadamia and he stated that he wants to learn all he can and maybe get another degree in the process. I learn by reading and listening but hate school!!! does his attitude apply to you?
