I dunno how old my therapist is. I'd say he is definately older than me, but really, he could be anywhere from 35 to 45 though I'm guessing... maybe 37 or something like that... Maybe... I have no idea, really.

I have never had a therapist who was my age or younger.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about that... That being said... I have seen a therapist (or three) who felt more like an older sister than like a mother... Most of the guys I've seen have been older than my current therapist. Otherwise they have been hard to fathom for the cultural difference (I find it extremely hard to assess the age of eastern people and I'm often guessing younger my miles).

I think that the transference can be impacted by age but that it is impacted by other things as well. I guess those other things could modify the impact of age...

I feel like... A peer of my therapist. If that makes any sense (I don't mean that either to belittle him or to inflate myself). But that actually feels quite nice... I think that maybe this is why my therapist was a little surprised at the age of my bf and he didn't really know what to say about that... I think he saw me as very young at one point (people tell me I look much younger than I am - which is only something that I'm finding complimentary now that I'm pushing up on 30). Dunno...

I'm 37 and I think my therapist is in his early 60s. He once said that he was not 65 yet (hence I'd guess early 60s).

I've pretty much totally cast him as a father-figure. And that's the way I want it. Wouldn't want a therapist close to my age and definitely not younger. My T is perfect for me. :-)
