We talked a lot about my future as a T and how my past is a plus and a negative in regards to that. But we are working on that so it won't have a huge impact on being a T. We talked whether or not I should be in Psy Chi , they want to induct me this April because of my 3.99 GPA.

Even though I reduced my classes to focus on desensitization of my trauma in therapy- I still have one class- still getting an A and I haven't dropped out- I am still moving forward. We talked about whether or not I really want to do research for 6 more years to get a Phd. and his view on how valuable it is to be a T. He believes you can be a great T without all the research experience.

We talked about my personal weaknesses and places I need to learn to be more objective especiall y parents who abuse make me very angry. I just am so glad I have this T, he has more than 40 years experience and he is so gentle and stable for me. He is one of the "good guys"

We talked about how my life experiences put me way ahead of the group of young beginning psychologists. Book smarts are good, but life experiences is even better. I am 39, have had marriage problems, I am a stepmom to 3 in their 20's, I have 2 children, difficult MIL, abusive past, married 14 years, and am a grandma too. My T graduated with high honors with a PHD and he said he didn't know %#@&#! when he started about life, he was in college his whole life. When he married and had 6 children, worked full time, well that is real life, the hard stuff.

We talked about knowing the ideals you learn in psychology classes about children, but until you are up all night with a crying infant and have to go to work the next day, you really don't know what it is like.

So it is funny I am on spring break, had 3 sessions this week to work on trauma, but we didn't do any EMDR. We just talked about stuff. I told him I feel I could tell him anything, that the trust i feel with him has gone to another level. But he reminded me not every week is going to be a piece of cake, lol. We have more trauma stuff to do. Okay, I realize I am rambling on.

That sounds like a really good session, happyflowergirl. Sometimes building the trust is so valuable--it will make the trauma work more possible.
