Ok, yes we all love our T's but what about T annoys you?

For example, my old T used to not vaccum enough. I would count lint balls on the floor... LOL

New T....she does not put the pillow back the way it should be before I come in.....

You? Annoying things our T's do?

There's only one thing T does that I am aware of that annoys me. I told him about this last week and he says he knows it annoys me. Annoying things our T's do? (But he is not going to stop doing it.) However, this male ego state I have, with whom I am not in contact all the time, has told me tons of stuff that T does that annoy him. That was fascinating! For example, he is annoyed when T repeats a joke or anecdote he's told before. I have always found this rather endearing, and I like to hear the jokes again. The mind is a weird thing!

ok so when she talks, she uses the "please continue" motion (a rolling of the hand) or the "etc etc" guesture.
CONSTANTLY!!! and very BIG. so i end up watching the motion instead of listening to what shes saying, and thinking "I really hate it when you do that". But i'm not going to tell her. I already told her her "let's be calm now and visualize" voice drove me nuts. Annoying things our T's do?

He does personal grooming sometimes.

Like pick his nails. He was jumpy last session, and was picking at one nail with the other, and putting little bits of nail in his empty water cup.

I finally admitted that it was driving me crazy when he pulled out a little nail file and started filing the jagged edges, and adding more to the cup. Which I think was pretty good because I usually don't say anything. He was proud of me too.

Once, he was rubbing at something on his shoe, then licked his finger to rub at it more effectively. I thought "Why is something too unacceptable for one's shoe acceptable for one's mouth?"

I do shudder whenever he cracks his knuckles. And he will stop doing it when I shudder.

He used to look at his phone when it vibrated. It became a huge issue to me, because I think it's unbelievably rude to pause to check to see who was calling, while we were in the middle of a discussion. It broke my train of thought and seemed disrespectful. So now it still vibrates, but he makes a special point of turning it off (if it's doing it a lot) while not looking at the screen. And saying that he's just turning it off. Or he lets me know if he needs to look at it for some special reason. Which manages to be just as disrupting, but less disrespectful I guess.

I'm sure he has a few with me. I prefer not to mop up my tears unless my nose starts to run, and he seems to be stopping himself from handing me a tissue.

Mine mostly keeps a clean office and she is very good about just sitting there peacefully when we are there. I am just annoyed when she tells me I need to change a thought pattern, but give me no instructions on how to do that. I thought that is why I was there. But there are never any suggestions on how to do things, just what I need to do.

Asks questions. hahaha. I only say that because last session I was in a very shut down, I want to be here, but I don't want to talk to you sort of mode. I literally said to him, "Can you please stop asking me your annoying questions? You are only permitted to ask closed-ended questions that have an easy, direct answer such as-- do you like pizza?"

Sometimes I do get really annoyed when he answers a question with a question. I mean, I KNOW that it the nature of the therapy and I do it all the time with my patients, but sometimes it just gets exhausting. My 'favorite' one:

Me: What are you thinking?
T: What do you think I'm thinking?
Me: Are you %#@&#! kidding me?

Obviously, depending on what mood I'm in, more things could annoy me. I mean, there are days when I walk in there where I literally get annoyed by his face. I have told him this, too. I told him to get a new face. Ahhhhhhhh he must love me.

Because I told him how uncomfortable it makes me, my T has stopped most of his direct eye contact. And now sometimes I just want to grouse, "Look at me!" Of course when he does, I look away. It's a no-win situation!

I'm in the "T is perfect" mode. If you'd asked this a few weeks ago, I would have had a lot of answers. Of course, the timer that goes ding could be tossed out the window, but my T is trying so hard now to help me that he could have a huge whistle that blows when it is time to leave and it wouldn't bother me, LOL.

not an irksome thing but a trigger - this week t wore a plum colored suit that looked more like fancy scrubbs... she started her career as a PMHNP and i really am freaked out by medical staff... so the fact that she really looked like a nurse or ready for surgery had me freaked.
