I have no idea and I don't really want to know because then I would just feel like I was part of her herd or something.
I want to think that I am the only one!!! How many clients does your T see?

Seriously though, I don't think any of us would know the answer to this question. I saw a client last week. I know it was his cause he said, "I'll be right with you." It was a guy. Good.

I have no idea. I've seen a couple of them in the waiting room, but no idea how many he has in all.

Riptide, does this concern you, or are you just curious How many clients does your T see? ?

Psychologists can't work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day and stay rested and refreshed and have a healthy personal life also. (Not for long anyway.)

Sometimes the session length is shortened, due to time constraints of the patient, or ability to pay for only a half session etc.

Few weeks are exactly the same. Patients cancel, new people have consultations, there are emergencies that take up time too.

Not only does a psychologist/therapist spend the session time with the patient, but she/he has prep time, and report time too... some do this at the end of the day, some do it one day a week etc... In actuality, a patient can take 1 1/2- 2 hours a week of the doctor's time in all, not counting emergency phone calls.

With that in mind, a doctor who carries a patient load of 30 patients a week (say in 4 days with the 5th day for prep/report ) she/he is working nearly 60 hours a week!

No practice is the same as another, ever. But this might give you some ideas on whatever it is you need to know.

I think my T has a lot of patients but she makes me feel like I am the most important and that's really what matters.

I actually asked my T about this once. He said he sees clients for 20 to 28 hours a week. Two of those are MINE, and I try not to think about the other 18 to 26 How many clients does your T see?

My T said he sees about 15 per day. Yes, I feel like part of the herd sometimes.

I don't even know how he juggles all of that. Probably why he doesn't do contact between sessions... How many clients does your T see?

Honestly, I don't have a clue. She's a candidate at the psychoanalytic institute so she has that as well. She sees enough patients to allow her to offer me a reduced rate, for which I'm grateful.

How about your T, Riptide?

Just me. Don't let it fool you into thinking it's easy, I've got LOTS of alters! She sees us 2x weekly, I think we're the only ones she sees that often.

She is trying to cut down on her days/hours in her office due to retirement. But I'm assuming about 30 per week until she cuts down.

Added in : How does it effect me? It used to effect us badly. We were so jealous. We're learning though to be extremely happy that lots of others get to experience such a wonderful and helpful therapist. She's so good that we just can't keep her to ourselves.

Fifteen per day? How is that even possible? Ten minute sessions? If each session is an hour (or almost an hour) and he has to schedule time in between sessions, plus some time to eat.... doesn't that mean he is at the office for like 23.5 hours per day?

I have no idea. He has at least 5 others because they're in the group with me.

I think he once said he only works 20-25 hours per week, so I'm guessing it's not that many.

One of my best friends IRL is a therapist. She has a part-time private practice and I think she had 12 clients there for a while. I think she considered that a lot for part-time. I think on some of her busy days she had 5 appointments. Or something like that.

I don't know how many other people my T sees, but he mostly sees kids it seems. There was one old lady that I saw, otherwise I don't know. However, he also works for three cities in our area for which he determines whether to commit people. On top of that, he works on criminal cases and spends time in court. He's totally busy all the time. The clients don't bother me at the moment.

The only thing that affects me is if I actually see another patient (this only happened once and I beat one of 'em up in the parking lot) and if I sit there, really allowing myself to imagine a beautiful connection between T and another patient (particularly a woman. An attractive woman).

As far as the number of patients... he could have 43589345345 and I don't care because he treats me as though I am the only when I am in that office-- and he makes himself available to contact him by phone and email as much as I want.... so what more could I ask for?

(Today, when I asked him to stay at the hospital with me, he did say 'no.' Then he said, 'We already discussed this, rememeber?') How many clients does your T see?

He said 15 per day...I guess I didn't do the math? They are 45 min sessions. His hours are 8:00-7:00

<font color="green">Perhaps he is seeing groups? or families? Then he could see more clients without compromising their care.

My therapist sees a number of different clients but I don't care she is there for me when I need her and I like that she is important and helps others.

I'm not sure, but his schedule is pretty crowded. He works 4 long days a week, but does work outside of the office too, in addition to his therapist hours. So I would guess at least 30 (but not all are weekly). Plus, does a couple count as one client or two? Does a family of four just count as one?

The way it might affect me is whether there is enough space that I can get an appointment each week. There have been a couple of times when I couldn't get an appointment the following week because he was booked up, and at those times I wished he had fewer clients.

I like that my T has a lot of clients as this reflects his success and efficacy. It means he is really good at helping and healing people or else his schedule wouldn't be so full. I wouldn't want to be the only one because that would probably mean he was a c**p therapist! I feel a kinship with my T's other clients--both past and present. We are part of the community of people he has helped and is helping. How wonderful that I belong to this group. I had a dream once that he held a party for all his clients at his house--it was great to attend and meet everyone and feel our shared bonds, through him.

I am always curious to see his other clients in the waiting room or on their way in or out. The few times I've waited with another client in the waiting room, we've always had a good conversation. I guess if they are seeing my T, they must be good people, as he is good and they wouldn't continue with him if they weren't buying what he sells, if that makes sense.

Hmm well, of course at 18 a day that isn't a "50 minute hour" which is what I was talking in general about. How many clients does your T see? Is that a pdoc (psychiatrist) only? Certainly can't get much therapy done in 20 or 30 minute, imo.

lol pink, maybe that is why so many Ts are falling asleep when they should be working! How many clients does your T see?
