Just wanted to share a rather strange story. Some people may find it triggering but I can see the funny side to it now. Hope it isn't to risky and doesn't get deleted, I'll try and choose my words carefully.

I have my therapy in a boring NHS building, no creature comforts or couches there. Well, a few years ago they decided to do some refurbishment so we had to go and have therapy in the Mens sexual health clinic instead! I had my therapy in a tiny little room with diagrams of mens 'bits' all over the room. I had about 6 weeks of staring at a poster-picture of an erect %#@&#!! Therapy in a strange place.

Do you have any similar or odd stories or strange places that you have had therapy?

I've been having therapy in a board room for the past few weeks. Awkward... but it's because the elevator is out of commission for the summer, so I can't go to my current counsellors office. Imagine though... a HUGE table, with her sitting on one side, and me on the other. Does absolutely nothing positive for feeling connected. Sigh.

Someone almost walked in on my session too. Therapy in a strange place.

Oh my goodness, I can just imagine, "Pardon, can you repeat that please!" Therapy in a strange place.

Haha. I should do that, just to see her reaction. Therapy in a strange place.

Therapy in a strange place.

Seriously though, she could have found *any* other room *anywhere* on campus. And she chose a boardroom, which constantly has people walking by it talking. Loudly.

No wonder I've been so good on talking about 'surface stuff' there's very little privacy!

You'll have to tell these people that walk in, "Excuse me, we are in a board meeting right now!" Therapy in a strange place.

My T's door has an "Engaged" sign on it! Therapy in a strange place. Therapy in a strange place.

I did therapy with nursing home residents during one training practicum. The room I had to use was the tiny office of a nurse who did all of the skin/wound care. I always had to stare at this poster of bed sores and other skin wounds. It was horrible. I finally ended up turning it around each day.

I'm glad you were able to do that, back when I was in the mens sexual health clinic room, I can tell you now I wasn't going to touch nothing!

Well, no, but evidentally I think T's room is odd or something.

Here room is one of many. It isn't a group practice, but a group of offices. When you call, they message identifies it as "the offices at 1234 T Street". Anyway, week before last I asked if it was "her" room. She said yes and looked at me funny and said yes and that I had asked her that before (I don't remember asking before Therapy in a strange place. ). So we attempted to explore that but I couldn't tell her I wished her room was less cluttered and more cozily furnished and docorated.

So it must be an 'odd' place to me sometimes.

LOL I don't know if I could have concentrated much in a room full of diagrams of mens 'bits'. Therapy in a strange place.

I've never had therapy in a strange place, but a couple sessions ago, the power kept going on an off because of a storm. The other T who shares office space knocked on the door during our session and my T went out in the lobby to quickly talk to her about the power problems. When my T came back in she eased me right back into the conversation. She started by repeating to me the last thing I had said to her before the knock on the door. I really liked that. It was like she was holding onto my thought and our conversation while the other T was talking to her. It made me feel like she thought out conversation was important and she had really been listening to me.

Lemon - that's cool your t did that for you! Very cool. Yeah, if I had walked into a room with posters of men "bits" i would have walked right back out again. Course, any T that knows me would have done the same and not let me enter it. Heh.

I have had them change rooms before, but nothing too odd. I guess the worst was when she was having an A/C unit installed in the window so the furnature was moved all around. The couch was facing the wall instead of her table. So, not knowing what else to do, i sat down on the couch and stared at the wall! She then asked me to move to the hard wooden chair. And then the guy showed up to put in the A/C unit and she let him in (her house). At the last second she said I could wait in the bathroom if I felt uncomfortable. I didn't know what to do and couldn't move. So in he came, installed the unit, and was out in like 5-7 minutes. He was supposed to be there in the morning, but was late. I felt very odd from it. That was last t.

With this t - we almost lost the room one night. It is her office, but one night there were ppl talking about it and if it was empty. Then i came down the hall, and around them and into the room - and heard them say "Welp, there goes your room!" Then i heard them ask if t and i could move. She shooed them away =) saying This One Is In Use! Heh go t!! I had just geared up to tell her something important and with the possible change had hesitated. If we had to move, I would not have been able to. Safety and consistancy means a lot to me.
