I did it I did it..I'm doing my little excited dance.
I actually called the thearpist todaY!!! I didn't hang up I didn't freak out I didn't flip my lid. I'm even going to actually go to an appointment..hopefully next thursday morning and then from there she said we could schedule a regular time. I'm just nervous because I have to tell my parents because I have to have their insurance information so I can pay for the thearpy but I am thrilled..I feel so proud of myself...she sounds really nice and it was really easy talking to her on the phone and she totally understood how hard it was for me to call..I'm just wanted to tell ya'll.
Please do keep nagging me to tell my parents though..and to actually schedule the appointment

My mom already knew I wanted to go back to thearpy and told me to call if I wanted to..my dad doesn't know and that's okay because my dad doesn't get all werid about these sort of things like my mom...it's just that dad is in charge of all finanical and insurance related material and he likes to procrastinate...I had to stay on his back about printing my new insurance card for three hours before he would actually do it...I won't see him till about four this afternoon but the t said just to call and leave a message because she was going to be out of town till friday...my tummy is getting all quesy..
Thank you all for your encouragment..I was trying to talk myself out of the whole thing while I was at the doctor today and then I got home and saw this and was just thrilled that I had so many people supporting me..

I"m scared...I don't know what to expect...I have been to a thearpist once before but I was such an emotional wreck that I just bawled and hyperventailted the whole time and felt like I couldn't talk because my parents were in the waiting room. I'm scared because I know this is a commentment and I'm going to have to actually open up and tell things..but mostly I don't know what to expect..What should I expect???

I did a lot of crying in therapy. I thought it was very therapeutic.

You can open up at your own pace. If you aren't comfortable tell her so.

The therapy is for you so approach it that way.

My parents aren't going this time..I'm 18 and I have my own car..so there is no need for them to go..that is part of the reason I've decided to start back in thearpy because my parents don't have to be involved in thearpy in any way...

Should I bring up my SI in the first session or let it come out on it's own? If I do tell t that I si does she have to tell my parents?? I know I'm an adult so legally they have no responsiblity or legal ties to me without my consent..but I was wondering if she has to because I pose a danger to myself or something like that??

Best to ask hypothetically, what her stance is on self-injury. Since you're 18 she's not allowed to tell your parents and most (good) therapists know that SI doesn't mean you're a real danger to yourself (not suicidal). But ask hypothetically, and I would bring it up if its important for you to stop the behaviour or explore the reasons why you do it.
