Artie, you're in the bar for a reason. Why not enjoy what you see inspite of your theory.

What an interesting thread! Artie, you are definately not alone in experiencing the IQ drop when faced with an attractive woman. In fact, there is research supporting that this happens to a lot of men.
Whether it's a learned behaviour, or hormone based is unclear Here is a link that points to the research: http://www.asylum.com/2009/09/04/bea...er-men-stupid/ If it were me, I would ignore the comments. After all, this *is* the internet, but the research is real. On the other hand, when estrogen peaks prior to ovulation, women experience a similar drop in IQ. (Behavioral Neuroscience 2000;114:1245-1250.). Hmmm... kinda makes you wonder how the human race persists doesn't it? On a personal note, I would put myself in the intelligent rather than attractive category. I'm quite happy and single. I do sometimes wonder if the fact that I don't need anything from men somehow puts them off, but I also wonder if I'm not pretty enough for their attention. In any case, if you take a step back and look at the dance between men and women, to me it all seems rather ridiculous. We are all human after all. |

A hot sexy woman that is an dingbat or a bimbo, I do not find sexy. A hot sexy woman is one that takes care of herself, is smart and confident and knows what she wants and how to get it. She dosen't need a man to confirm her value and she knows how to treat a man...that is a wonderful sexy woman.
as an aside, DW and I were in a restuarant dining on breakfast in walks 40 something bimbo with a man that was obviously in his 80's. she was scantily dressed and he looked like her grandfather, they were alll cuddily and kissy face, it made my stomache churn. It was obvious to me that she was gold digging because she sat there staring at some other guy in his 40's while Pappy drolled all over her. Sickening. ![]() |

Thanks very much for that research ellimay, makes me feel better, it is a laugh really.
As for my notorious theory about feminism making us dumber as a species it was not especially serious, (this can be unclear on the net) I was responding to your comments salukigirl that women instinctively seek rich providers, men seek submissive nuturers, which seemed to fit with the theory that men seek women poorer than them & women seek men richer than them. As women get richer there are fewer (richer) men to choose from & fewer(poorer) men will be interested in them. All the single men I know are dirt poor, all the the single women I know are middle class (although they are older, they bred when they were young(&poor). The thing is there is no scientific agreement that we have these instincts for male dominance. In the earliest societies it is though men & women may have been equal, anyway all wealth (the lasted piece of food usually) was shared, our closest primate relatives the Bonobo are female dominant, they actually use sex (& teaming up) to dominate the males, the existence of mascochistic men who like aggressive women ( I don't know how common this is 20%?) indicates the universality of male dominace is a myth, which I think is a good thing. On the whole I see female dominace as a much more civilised thing than male dominance, although equality is a nice idea too. Whatever the case human nature is highly elastic in this regard. This thread had helped me clarify & develop my thoughts which were worrying me, thanks to all who commented, including criticisms. |
