My son was engaged and found out his fiance had been caught shop lifting. She is 23. He is 26. She also got caught stealing pills from a friends bathroom cabinet. Long story short,he broke off the engagement. Two months later they have a "fling" and she is now pregnant. He is mad, and says she intentionally did so to force him to marry her. He says he does love her but feels she has some mental issues he just doesn't want to live with, so he won't marry her. I tried to convince him to go to counseling with her, but he says he sees no point. But, what about this baby that he conceived..if the mother is that unstable should he marry her just to assure the baby will be cared for adequately???

No. He can battle for custody once the birth takes place -if- it's even his child.

I'm pretty sure if he signs the birth certificate he will be financially responsible for the child until age 18. So I would assume that means visiting rights, married or not.

Don't marry her. Write her a registered letter recommending therapy for addiction. Plan on supporting your child, and get yourself a residence which will allow shared custody. Unless you want the same thing to happen again come up with a Birth Control plan that you are sure of. Good luck.... Run
