My job is to give out samples at Sam's Club, although I work for a separate company contracted by Sam's to sell their product. At the: bottom of the totem pole would be us. Then there's the Lead, and then the Retail Mgr. Anyway, I purposely skipped too many meals this week, wanting to go from a size 8 to a size 6. Yesterday, I skipped breakfast and lunch and at 4:50 ish, I got dizzy. I wasn't supposed to leave my cart, but I did to get water. My Lead caught me and said that could get me wrote up. I told her I'm gonna pass out. She then proceeded to send me home early and told me she's gonna need to report to the boss that I didn't finish my day.

I apologized profusely and she told me I'll need to explain that to the boss. Y'kno, the stuff about it's nvr gonna happen again and the whole situation. She told me I could call since our mgr left for the day. The short of it is, I made the call and I'm forgiven, off the hook, w/e. Nothing bad happened. I'm still on the schedule and even got more hours added in the middle. What I can't understand is WHY I still feel like crap and how I could get it to stop. I screwed up and I hate that. **** like that ain't supposed to happen, at least not to me.

Pfft, the only screw up you did was not eating. To be fair you could have had that dizzy spell at any time and what are you supposed to do about it? There'd have been more trouble if you had have collapsed at work, I know here there would have to have been an accident report made and investigated.

The WORST that can come from this is you get disciplined for not looking after your own health, and that's only if you attribute your spell of sickness to something you did.

Personally I'd put it down to a mistake similar to "I tripped and drop a load of stock and now it's ruined and cost them $100". Heck it could have been a lot worse!

k but I don't wanna ever get disciplined. I was just stupid for thinking I could have my cake and eat it too. Plus, when I called my boss, I couldn't even speak calmly. I totally freaked out and apologized profusely. I even said plz don't be mad at me and stuff like that. omg, now I have so much on my plate.

Almost no one enjoys or looks forward to being disciplined. That's human nature. I understand the paranoid feeling that your boss won't like you anymore. Take a deep breath...relax. Stop kicking yourself. It's over now. And now is the time to show that you learned from the experience.

You pushed your body too far & hopefully learned a lesson. (That's the important part.) Starving yourself has consequences. Just go through the weight loss process a little more slowly, more healthily, and permanently.

Gentle hugs to you!

So concerning Wednesday, when I felt like I was gonna pass out at work. I worried like hell. I mean, I'm on the schedule for the next 3 weeks, but we get our schedules 4 weeks in advance. I'm not on the week 4 schedule. I checked it on the internet this morning. idk what to do or what to say. It seems like I could never get it together. I'm so sorry things happened the way it did and I did everything I could to ensure that I don't pass out ever again. In fact, I stopped dieting the lazy way and felt back to normal.

I screwed up. I was gonna get more hours dropped in this week, but I didn't, bc of Wednesday. Now I don't even have ne hours 4 weeks from now. Even though she kinda forgave this incident, idk. I feel like I'm on everyone's bad side.

You're working for the *biggest* corporation practically in the whole world, Walmart/Sam's Club known for placing corporate profits WAY above any concerns involving employee rights. I'm not saying all corporations don't--but your employers have a well-known reputation for it!!

None of us want to mess up, much less have it brought to our attention promptly and with repercussions attached. If you stay with the really big employers, though, you'd better find ways of coping fast. Walmart didn't get to be number one passing out hugs.

I don't work for Wal-Mart/Sam's CLub. I work for another company that's hired by Sam's Club to give out samples. (With the pupose of selling, of course.) My mgr isn't from Sam's Club either. Now I'm just totally freaked out about my schedule.
Thanks for this!

we all make mistakes it is part of being human. You have to put what happened into greater pespective when it happens. It is best to be honest with those above you. Also learn to recognize when you are having difficulty performing your job and let someone know what is going on with you.

My greater concern is your method of losing weight, what you are doing, missing meals is not a healthy strategy and will have negative long term consequences. Your body needs food to operate and that includes your mind as well. Hunger causes a loss of focus and concentration.

The safer way to loose weight is to eat smaller portions but more frequently. When you starve yourself, your metabolism slows down to adapt so you do not burn fat off as efficiently so ultimately it is a self-defeating strategy. By eating low fat, low sugar foods more frequently, along with regular exercise you maintain a high metabolic rate and you will lose weight in a much safer and more satisfying way.

Brings to mind the scene in Blazing Saddles where a worker passed out from the heat, and the boss said to dock him a day's pay for sleeping on the job. Any Wal-Mart corporation is capable of doing the same thing.

Ruby,

It sounds like you want "instant" results, wanting to go from a size 8 to 6. It doesn't work that way. I don't mean to judge you, but why do you want to drop 2 sizes when you're a size 8?

Well, I'm on the week 4 schedule as of Sunday afternoon, but just for one day. For the next 3 weeks, I have 3-4 days per week. Hmmm...

I thought size 8 was fat. And to reply to the above poster, I don't work for Wal-Mart corporation. I just work for another company Wal-Mart hired. lol
