Hello.
At the present I have girlfriend which currently lives in the united states, I don't live there myself so our distance is huge. It's the same girlfriend I've had for 4 years now and she is in the hospital and I've supported her financially just recently for 2 operations which was necessary. They needed surgery to remove poison from her body which have been building up over a long period of time, and so it was very serious. The operation went fine and everything, but the next thing that she requires now is a so called kidney transplantation. Now to my question over here. The doctor says that the cheapest alternative for her is at 12000 british pounds, and that is because she needs a compatible donor. Now my question to all of you which is here and reading this, is this a price which is normal? Does it exist cases when people give away their kidney for free? Or are those extreme cases? She will be dead in less than 2 weeks from now according to the doctors diagnosis, I'm just hoping the doctor is wrong, but I don't know. I've chosen to always remember her and I told her so no matter what happens, so I felt very sad yesterday. Today it feels a bit better... |

Isn't paying for organs illegal? Have you been to see her in hospital? Sorry to ask.
Hugs. |

Riotgrrrl is correct - selling and buying organs is illegal. It needs to be done through a legitimate, legal agency and their fees are nothing like that. I would definitely try to find out some more information about what the costs are for and what is going on.

Have you ever met this girl? Have you ever actually seen her sick?
Sorry to say this, but it sounds like a scam to me. Send no more money. You are not responsible for her. There are other means for her to obtain health care without asking you for money. So sorry. |

There are a lot of scams like that that go on over the internet.....even if you have known this person for 4 years.
I have a friend who had a kidney transplant & she's on medicare.....medicare coverage covered her surgery as she doesn't have money & had been divorced for years.....medicare covered because of the kidney failure in the first place & the diabetes & the dialisis she was requiring before they finally found the matching kidney just about 3 years ago. It doesn't require money like your GF is claiming here in the US.....so don't be scammed into what she's telling you. I know it doesn't feel good to think if the possibility that someone you thought you knew for 4 years could do that to you....but honestly....none of what she is claiming is how it really is especially for those who don't have money here in the US.....all the Dr's are quite capable of knowing & finding all the financial help she might possibly need.

Red flags are going up for me as I read your post, as it has for others who posted above. She can sign medical releases so her doctors can speak directly to you - I highly recommend this so you can see exactly what the situation is and go from there. If she won't do that ... well, something clearly is amiss - take care.

Sorry to say this but this sounds like a scam. I strongly suggest that you stop sending her money until you can go and visit her to verify her medical condition. If she refuses you coming to visit her in her time of need then you got your answer as to what's going on...good luck

Please do me a favor and name the operation she had in 21st century terms. I mean, "removing poison from her body which has been building up over a long period of time" does indeed sound horrible - completely horrible - and, of course, I can see how that would be very serious, but still... ...do name the condition and the surgery... On a more serious note, listen to everything wise people who warned you on here have been trying to tell you. And stop sending money. And ideally cut all contact. and, read up on scams before you ever communicate with anybody else over the internet. Better yet, stick to old-fashioned relating - it would be much safer for you. Sorry you have wasted to much time and effort on a her. |

I was wondering about the "removing poison from her body" description, too ... as hamster posted above. What kind of procedure was it, exactly?

I can't help but think of the possibility that she really is sick and will die and we were all assholes in this scenario.
![]() Anyhow, couldn't help but look at other posts. Apparently from this topic Bear Spirit has had a history of financially supporting her: http://forums.psychcentral.com/bipol...-unstable.html I am so sorry you are having to deal with this Bear. ![]()
