Hello. Thank you for reading this. I am a BPD, and having a really hard time with my relationship because I am unstable, take everything personal, and get very irritable. I am on meds, but want off of them cuz they take away all my feelings and make me so tired. I am doing DBT training from a book, and want to be strong enough to use these skills without being on meds. But, when I get angry, all that seems to matter to me is that my bf understand me and know why I feel the way I do! And, it makes me angry when he makes excuses, instead of understanding me! But, I love him and he loves me. I am 47 years of age.

gosh, if you could get into a dbt group that would be ideal. it does wonders to help with emotional regulation. even if you could do a little counseling with him to work on your communications skills, learn to practice some active listening this could be helpful. take care.

I agree with kaliope. I found DBT to be a life saver. Just reading a book is not the same as doing it in a group with a therapist. It's good you are trying, though.

Has your bf read up on BPD? That would make him understand it and you more. One book my husband read (that was recommended to him) is "Stop Walking on Eggshells."

P.S. Welcome to Psych Central! Have you seen our borderline sub-forum? You might want to check it out. Here is the link: http://forums.psychcentral.com/borde...lity-disorder/.

Thank you so much for the link to the BPD Forum! Yes, my bf is reading the book about dating a Borderline. He is the one that got me the DBT book and introduced me to DBT! He's such a wonderful guy!! I can't find a DBT Group where I live. I live in Butte County. I will look, again, though. Thank you so much!! Blessings ~
