Okay I am confused. I have mentioned before in another thread that a friend, who really wasn't much of a friend in the first place, is pulling away. No problem, I respect that and actually the feeling is mutual because of how fake she had been the whole year. And I have stopped texting her, but every so often she will just say what's up or hi. A couple days ago she talked to me for about five minutes, longest conversation in six weeks or so. No joke. But it was all about herself, like how it usually is. But if she does text me every so often, then she will just randomly stop, and won't hear from her for another few weeks and the same thing happens. I feel like she is doing it out of boredom or something, I am really confused. At first I thought it was because I had to be honest with her about how she was acting so maybe she is trying to act nicer but not wanting to be friends? I only told her about how I noticed her behavior so she would know that if she really wants to move on, then that's okay, just be honest. But I only did that a couple times and that was weeks ago. Not sure what is going through her head. Unless she is accidently texting me when she means to text someone else. What do you think she is doing? Should I just ignore her or tell her to stop?

Just stop responding to her texts.

Just may do that. In a way, I feel like she is playing mind games. She's the one who pulled away, so she needs to stick to it.

If you don't want to be friends with her anymore and don't like her texts, yeah, not responding is the way to go.
I do have friends that I only text with every month or two. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with having a five minute chat infrequently. |

Maybe she is ambivalent about the relationship, not sure if she fully wants to move on or not.

Possible.

What Bill3 said. I do that myself. I'm trying to stop because it gets me into more trouble than it is worth, but sometimes I have friends that I like but don't want to be that close to. I am never sure how to handle those relationships. It usually doesn't hurt to leave doors open when possible.
I have a vague memory of you posting about someone who sounded like a user -- is this that person, the one who was borrowing money? I wouldn't text her back ![]() |
