I got a chuckle out of people thinking 8 is a high number. My BFF has/had 892 blocked. It has been a few weeks since we discussed it so possibly more now. If you post one single thing he doesn't agree with he blocks you. Heck we've been best friends for 33 years the ONLY reason I'm not blocked is he likes to chat we me on there. He jokes that he has more blocked people than friends.

Yes. I have blocked people, unfriended them, and not subscribed to their posts.

If there are people who I don't want to hurt, for example republicans,I just unsubscribe to their posts. That way I am on their friends list, but I don't have to listen to their political opinions.

I had to end up blocking the person who got me on facebook in the first place. She was my friend since the 8th grade. She became toxic and said things to me that no friend would ever say, insulting me and acting like she was joking. I defriended her, then had to block her because she was still sending me nasty messages. I made bad choices in friends.

It was an incredible experience for me (50 years old) to reconnect with people on facebook I never dreamed I would ever see again. I revisited every ex-boyfriend! omg

Yeah, I had someone who was extremely paranoid and definitely in need of help who started sending me private messages accusing a mutual friend of doing all sort of horrible things to them. (I knew the person they were accusing in real life but they were someone I knew only online.) They wouldn't listen about getting some help so I blocked them. Then they created fake accounts to send me messages and then blocked me before I could respond. Facebook definitely brings some problematic behaviors to light, for sure.

It almost sounds like she wanted you to join FB just so she could harass you. That's too bad.

I've had "friends" like that in the past.

Does he do any sales on Facebook? I've sold stuff on Facebook garage sale sites, and as a seller, its almost critical to block certain buyers because of some of the things they do. There are lots of buyers on these sites wanting to lowball prices and argue like crazy. I've had to block them. Its nothing personal. I earn extra money for my household by selling online, and I can't waste time haggling with people who want these things for free. I've had the same problem with selling on Craigslist, too. I get contacted by "buyers" who give me a hard luck story and want me to give my item to them. I don't reply and block their emails.

She just couldn't help herself. Anything I would post or comment on, she would swoop in and immediately comment with something obnoxious and start fighting with my other friends. Did she have some kind of alert that rang her every time I posted? We were friends in person, too. I had to block her from real life.

It sounds like she was on facebook all day long. I know people who are on it 24hours a day almost. I know FB sends a notice when someone comments on a thread you post on, so that was probably part of it. She sounds very toxic. Some people are unhappy and want to make others unhappy too, or attempt to destroy them mentally in some way. I had a friend who was hyper critical of me, this was IRL. Then one day, we started trading emails occasionally; well, she loved email because it made it easier for her to send me vicious messages. Things she wouldn't have said IRL. It was like it was easier to throw out insults when she was sitting behind a computer screen. Life is too short to put up with people like this and I started making new friends ASAP. I realized she'd never change.

I have at least one FB friend that I've excluded from seeing most of my posts, because she would comment on every single one. She also friended people from my friend list, and started bugging them, too. She has over 5,000 "likes" of various businesses on FB. She'd have to be on FB all day long to have this much activity going on. Some people live through Facebook. I decided to only post on it occasionally and limit my friend list to just family and people I went to school with. I don't spend all day looking for people to send friend requests to, or post one anyone's page and I avoid all the political arguments and drama.
Thanks for this!

You actually can get notifications every time someone posts. I get them for my boyfriend and my best friend, so I don't miss anything they share.

First, I got on facebook to see that my young kids were safe on there. Then, it became like a 'This Is Your Life' reunion with everyone I have ever known. There was a lot of catching up for a year. Then, current local friends and acquaintences and professional people started getting friended. Then, my mother got on. Now, I have totally lost interest in facebook. I think of it as the YellowPages now. I'm actually getting more out of being on here, being able to really be myself-- faceless book???
Thanks for this!

He's never sold anything. His view is it's HIS page and therefore he has final say on who can post on his page and what AND who he will deal with at all. He also doesn't allow any politics/religion so that's caused the majority of blocking. He told me that IRL he deals with enough haters and jackholes, so online he sees no need to deal with them.

I know he doesn't follow my posts because I only use FB for the games and to chat to a couple people. I don't understand why he doesn't just unfollow other people's posts instead of blocking them but his "world" his rules

Don't know if it's the same as being "blocked", but I put someone on my "restricted" list. So the only thing this woman can see are my profile photos. She can not read anything anyone posts or anything I post, other than profile pictures. I have many reasons for restricting this woman, one of which is that I simply did not trust her with info about my life. She NEVER interacted with me on FB.....no "likes" or comments, yet I suspected she was just using FB to spy on me everyday. Funny thing, when I put her on "restricted", it took her less than 24 hours to do the same to me. I checked her page, and sure enough all I could see was her profile photos. Proving she was on FB and perusing my page frequently without any comments or interaction.....which means she was indeed spying. And since she restricted me back, it's been paradise!
Thanks for this!

That sounds like a stalkers best friend! No, I'm not insulting you, not in the least. Rather, for the psycho's and the crazies out there, yeah, FB is helping them become even more insane by letting them know when there's another post to troll... Geez, thanks FB!

How do you restrict someone? This is definitely different than blocking, because with blocking, you can't see anything.

Hahaha, yes if it were not just extremely close friends I would feel very uncomfortable following their every post. It is creepy for sure. I guess the mindset of facebook is that every "friend" you have must be someone you wouldn't mind commenting on every single thing. I use filters for different levels of privacy, some more personal things I filter and only share with people I'm in real life friends with as opposed to just everybody.

What I did was create a friend list called "close friends" that excluded the problem person I knew, and when I post something on my wall, I set it so that only people on the close friends list can see it. This can be alternative to the "drama" of unfriending someone.
I had to do this because one woman I knew would be all over my facebook page all day long, commenting on every single picture I posted in my albums and talking on my wall, often rambling on and on, for no reason. Also, she met a few of my relatives one time at a party at my house, and then she sent them all friend requests, they accepted for whatever reason, and now she pesters them constantly on their facebook pages too. I am pretty sure one day they'll either unfriend or block her.
Thanks for this!

Oh, this would have been a great feature a few years ago.....A "friend" proceeded to attack me on my wall/timeline(whatever) and the only way to stop her was to unfriend her. Yeah, THAT opened up another can of worms and.....I'll stop there.

One day I'll make a list like this! LOL
