I will give the example that I think personifies my problem with people. For instance there is this lady that both my mom and grandmother say is a real talker and won't stop once she gets started on our Meals for Wheels route, however she barely says boo to me. She'd talk to my grandfather a ton to, now it's not that I'm trying to get someone to talk my ear off, why is it that no matter how friendly I am, or outgoing I try to appear, that I never get any kind of sociable response from other people in return? Is it what I say? How I say it? (Because the same is true in online interaction as well). I'm tired of being lonely and not having anyone to talk to. I'm also tired of feeling ignored by pretty much everyone I encounter though I'm sure that's probably not it. What is it?

Is there a difference in the subjects you talk about? Like your mum talks chit chat but you talk about more serious things?

I don't know, and I try to be considerate and ask people about themselves and what not, but the most I usually get is a yeah, ok. I would like to be able to produce more than a yeah, ok from people. It's not just what I talk about. I think it's something else.

What does your face look like?
No seriously. I never used to speak to my BIL for longer than 30 seconds because he always looked so unapproachable / disinterested / stern. Once I realized what the barrier was, I told him and he made an effort to smile more, which softens his facial expressions considerably. Even myself, when among new company I have to mentally remind myself to not wear my *****face... Just a thought to ponder.

It's so hard for me to say. How people come across in text online could be dramatically different to visual and auditory cues given IRL, such as body language, facial gestures and tone of voice.

I really never payed much attention to things like my own body language, I don't know what others body language often is, even when I try to pay attention. It's rather annoying to not get the simplest things that others seem to take for granted. I've tried things like smiling more and talking more, being engaged, but that only seemed to weird people out more, it just seems as though everything I do is wrong when it comes to people. I've been trying my whole life to figure out this issue, and I don't think I'm ever going to solve it.
