I've always tried to do my best to socialize with people, especially my classmates. Yet, it doesn't matter what I do, they don't seem to like me
![]() I don't understand. Why don't they like me? Why do they ignore me? What is different in me that makes them dislike me? I don't really act any different from how they behave... so what is it? ![]() It's just so frustrating.. I'm afraid I'll be alone for the rest of my life.. |

I can relate to that 100%! I thought that being a very loyal and caring person would make you a wanted and needed human being through your entire life!!! `WELL` I woke up and smelled the coffee!!!!! `WHAT A CROCK OF SHITE`!!!!!!

Dear MickeyCheeky, I am not a genius in regards to relationships but here is my advice. Keep your eyes on the prize and don't waste your energy on people who don't seem to care about you. You are a beautiful person with a wonderful future ahead of you. Concentrate on finding a career and being successful at it. Entanglement in relationships at to young of an age can just prevent you from achieving your goals. For instance, because I was nearly 30 before I had my first child, H and I were able to save money and pay off our entire mortgage before my 30th B-day (I concentrated on work, not friends between my 24th and 29th B-days). Your high school friends may just not be "your type" in personality/interests/goals. I know it hurts but life will change as you get older and how many friends you had in high school (grades 9-12 in the US) becomes very unimportant. Trust me---there is nothing wrong with you. There is no reason to worry about this. You are a good person who has an awesome future in front of you. I know you do!

Thank you, Myst
![]() ![]() I've already stopped to care about them after 2 years straight of me trying to bond.. I don't see any reason to keep trying with them. Still, it hurts.. never had "real" friends all my life ![]() |

My classmates keep teasing me
![]() I'm trying to ignore them, but it's hard.. their comments hurt ![]() Tbh I don't think anything will change even when (or should I say if) I'll get out of school. I've never had friends and never learned how to socialize.. I'm afraid I'm stuck for the rest of my life ![]() |

To those who have classmates using Nicknames on you in a teasing way, I realized in my adulthood that if I had just laughed and made light of it, it could have given me an entirely different experience. It started badly in 7th grade and I was so hurt, all I did those two years in junior high, was to look hurt and never to smile. I think the nasty kids enjoyed my suffering but the ones who were mainly teasing and calling me a non hurtful nickname would have laughed with me, instead of just the bad kids laughing at me.
Whatever happens, I hope it gets better for you. |

Bipolar people don't get easily the signs of other people, face and body gestures . Don't discourage yourself!
You probably are misreading signs |

Thank you. I just want to add, in high school, I did make some friends, and it was wonderful. I hope as the pool of kids is so much wider, you will make friends, doing the activities you enjoy. I also was never really socialized, but my friends were wonderful - that's how I think/feel about them still. Try to nurture budding friendships by asking someone to join you, or have a study circle, or take an art or music class because those are wonderful areas where the kids are more sensitive. I wish you the excellent luck you deserve.

Friends are people who enjoy the same things and then also enjoy doing those things together. So, just do the things you enjoy doing and then watch for opportunities to welcome or join others alongside while doing those things.

Only one or two might be quite sufficient, so where and how either do you spend much or most of your time or would you if you could? Or, who might be the friendliest person you know and what does s/he like to do? I am 66 and have very few friends, but the fact I have any at all is because they were simply discovered while doing things I already either needed, wanted and/or liked to be doing.

I spend most of my time at home.. I have no idea on how I would like to spend my time otherwise.
The friendliest person I know? Well.. he likes watching movies and playing the guitar.. I've already tried both of them. I'm useless with the guitar and don't even like it. And watching movies.. meh, I don't really care about it :/ |

You speak and write well, so do you have any kind of creative leaning? My first thought here would be something like serving as a tutor for young students. Overall, however, the idea is to keep looking around wherever to see what opportunity or opportunities might appear or where one thing or another might catch your interest. For example: Just a few days ago I was sitting here in my usual depression as a disabled old-timer living 900 miles away from my two daughters and six grandchildren, then a search for "loner forum" landed me here where I now have something to do.

Nah.. I'm not a good student. I don't even like most of the subjects I study.
I know I have to keep looking.. I have no idea where to start or how to do that ![]() ![]() Thank you for trying, though ![]() |

I'm so sorry things aren't working out yet. Maybe just work on smiling? I had a hard time doing that all my life.
