I have posted multiple times about my work friends. In particular it is these two girls. They are nice to me and often treat me like a friend, however, they seem to demonstrate that they find me unintelligent and awkward. In other words, they have no respect for me. I have a tendency to say things that are just totally inncacurate, either because of social anxiety or slow processing speed, and every time this happens, they seem to really draw attention to it. I get the feeling that one I have one if my "blunders" in front of one of them, she will text the other about it.
I don't like playing the role of the "village idiot". In fact, I hate it. If I am going to be part of a group, I want to be someone who is seem as competent and desirable. But since they are nice to me and maybe even consider me a friend, I feel like I can't just tell them off. How does someone deal with this? |

I would definitely not tell them off. At a proper time and place I would just quietly let them know I am open for any suggestions or advice they might have to offer. It is at least possible their text messages are along the line of how to possibly be helpful, so maybe give them the benefit of the doubt and find out.

Sometimes friends rip on each other and mean no disrespect, its just part of the dynamic (my friendship circle is like that) maybe thats the case here and they don't even know you find their comments disrespectful... Idk, maybe just tell them you don't like it, and take it from there.

Nice and disrespectful don't go together....
Teasing is common amongst friends. It isn't necessarily a sign of disrespect, it could be a sign of comfort and trust. I only joke tease the people I am comfortable with. I am also comfortable being teased by them, because there is a mutual respect and trust between us so we know neither is serious. We will also respect one another's sensitive areas. Have you ever asked why they tease? Or ever told them that it isn't funny to you? If you smile and don't say anything they will assume you're ok with the teasing. And if they are serious with it, then they aren't nice nor are they friends.
