Hi, I have recently become sexually active with my boyfriend about a month and a half ago. We have always used protection and every time, the condom, to my knowledge has never broken or torn. I am not on birth control currently but will start when i get my next period. Last month, I started feeling as if I had pregnancy symptoms, such as pain in lower abdomen, tender breasts with twinges, bloating, gassy, backpain, ect. I have taken many pregnancy tests and they have all come out negative. I even went to Planned Parenthood twice for tests. I have been stressing out about it constantly. I feel a huge knot in my stomach under my belly button that is hard and I am bloated as well. I had what seemed like period on February 8th that lasted 5 days, started with brown discharge, and uncommon light (no clots) blood. But it was heavy as well. I read about implantation bleeding and what it could look like and I assumed that was what I was feeling. But I had very heavy, period like cramps. I think that stress made me have a wonky period. I took another pregnancy test last Wednesday that was negative. Do you think I am just psyching myself out and stress is making all of these symptoms? Even with the reassurance of the negative tests, I still believe that I'm pregnant. It;s driving me mad. Have any of you ever experienced a scare like this and it was all n your head? My next period should be around March 8th but since last month, I have been having PMS symptoms. I'm going to take another pregnancy test today just for peace of mind. I just want to feel normal again.

I was under the delusion of being 9 months pregnant because my belly stuck out and I had unprotected sex 9 months ago of when I was feeling this way. Nope, just fat.
Thanks for this!

The pregnancy test I took today was negative (granted I got it from the dollar store). I think I just need to calm down and stop thinking about it and my symptoms will go away. Hopefully!

Pregnancy tests are incredibly reliable these days.
However, if you haven't started any new medication lately, including birth control, and your period and symptoms are very outside your usual parameters, you should really get checked out because there are other things other than pregnancy that can cause changes to your cycle and body.

Take care and I am sure everything will be just fine.

Considering how many tests you've taken, and that they have ALL come back negative, I think it's safe to say you aren't pregnant.

I actually think maybe you need to talk to your therapist about your paranoia about this. It seems rather unhealthy. How old are you, by the way? I'm just curious.

Btw, yes, I've had a pregnancy scare before, when my period was many weeks late and I was having unprotected sex with a BF, but I was on birth control. Because the BC affected my period, it was hard to know. So I took a pregnancy test. It was negative, but I was nervous nonetheless until my period came.

But you have had a period between now and when the scare started, so that should have alleviated your paranoia. The fact that it has not and you seem convinced you are pregnant is concerning, which is why I think you should discuss with a therapist. It seems like a psychological issue rather than a physical one.

Good luck,
seesaw

Thank you! I am 20 years old. The only reason that I'm still concerned is the fact that my period was very unusual and i still seem to be having the same symptoms now as I did before. But i honestly think it's because of stress and constantly being aware of it. I don't know, really.

There are all sorts of things that can make a period irregular. Maybe a visit to your OBGYN would help?

I still tested negative 6 months into my pregnancy, but I'm sure that's not what you want to hear.

I had a psychological scare once too, had all these weird symptoms, ended up having an ultrasound just to be 100% sure, since I seem to have deceptive urine.

Woahhhhhhhh 6 months! Did you take an earlier pregnancy test when you were a bit late? Or did you not miss your period?
Thanks for this!

Lol @ Seesaw and CH! Just trying to help

I missed my period and that's why I knew, despite being on the pill, because I was always regular as clockwork.

I took the tests for the entire 6 months! Mostly to prove a point.

I was obviously showing already and still my tests were negative, but apparently I'm not an alien, only bloods and ultrasounds are to be trusted in our family, also oral contraceptives don't work on us. Obviously. My sisters had similar issues as well.

OP, I really didn't mean to scare you, just sharing my experience, I doubt you're preggerz tho.
Thanks for this!

An obstetrician told me that the pregnancy tests you buy in drug stores are usually very reliable. I'm also aware they're not real cheap. So you must have spent quite a bit of money by now.

Something is causing you real distress. Maybe it's a physical problem, or maybe it's a psycological problem. In either case, you've got a problem. I think you should seek some counseling and see a doctor.
