My brother and his wife have posted pictures of our infirm dad online to solicit funds to help finish the house that he and I started to build but couldn’t because of his poor health and lack of funds. My dad would like help from his kids but he has a thing about having his information on the Internet and if he could understand what they did he would be highly upset.

The last time someone placed a picture of him on social media he had a cow. Threats were made and he and the person who posted last time got into a very heated argument about it. He can’t respond himself but I know how he would respond and I would like for my brother to take the pictures down as well as the crowd funding account.

I don’t disagree with my brothers idea but I don’t approve of the way he went about it. I want to confront him about it but he has been physically abusive in the past when confronted just because he thinks so highly of himself and has such a low opinion of others. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to get in a fight with him but I’m afraid it may come to that. I want him to see reason.

Report the pics on Facebook or whatever the site is. Tell the site they don't have permission to use the photos.

My grandfather was the same way, and his son, my uncle, posted status updates when he had dementia, about his health. My dad and I got him to stop, but I felt so bad for my grandpa cause he was very private. It was one thing to post a status like, pray for my dad, he is unwell, and another to post private details about his health status.

I understand what you're going through. Some family members don't respect the infirm person's wishes.

I don't understand why someone would even do that. It boggles my mind. I found out I was going to be a grandma along with every other knob on Facebook. I just found out my kids are going to Hawaii a half hour ago...yep, Facebook.

You are going to have to talk with your brother. Is there a way of doing so in a public place where he is less likely to act terribly or threateningly? Would it make you feel better if the picture was changed to one of a more robust figure of your father?
Thanks for this!

The pics have been reported and I'm thinking about meeting him out at a local park tomorrow with a few other family members. I hope it goes well.

I'm so sorry for your relative. How terrible they have to suffer at the hands of their own family.
Thanks for this!
