I'm doing a solo trip to the Caribbean tomorrow and I'm having a lot of trouble convincing myself I should be doing this. I've traveled alone before and it was okay but this time I'm really struggling..... I'm just writing this to convince myself that I'll be okay. My anxiety is high and my energy level isn't where it should be. The fact that I'm leaving the country and I'll be alone always makes me tense. Why do I do this to myself - I guess because I want to have a life like everyone else....thanks 😳😳😳

Enjoy your trip. Why don't you start online blog about traveling? People might like to read it and look at pics. You might meet people this way. Also there are solo traveling groups. Through meetups ot simd other venues. Check those out

I actually headed up a solo travel group but it died - it went from 33 members to zero. That was through Meetup and can't say I'm impressed with that system☹️☹️🙁😡

I'm responding to this even though you never respond to my responses, haha. I'm sure you have posted something similar before. Why do you always travel alone if it makes you tense, anxious and miserable? Solo travel has it's advantages but is that much harder when you are older. Why not join trips where you are guaranteed to meet people. How about a cruise. You get all the facilities and you can be as reclusive or as sociable as you want. Probably lots of couples but there will be cruises for singles as well.
Or group tours. Not as flexible as solo travel but maybe the trade off is worth it.
Kudos to you for starting the meetup group. Shame it didn't last but hmm, maybe people are solo travellers for a reason. And again older people maybe don't have the joie de vivre of younger people. Huge generalisation, of course.
Ok, not expecting a response . Have a good day.
Thanks for this!

Hmmm. I have hard time believing there are no other functioning singles travel groups in Seattle area. I think the one you led died, and you gave up on checking any further. You don't have to lead one, but you can join one.

There is nothing wrong with traveling alone. I personally wouldn't though. Not my cup of tea. But i would travel with a group. So if traveling alone upsets you I see no reason to keep doing it
Thanks for this!

Have a great time on your solo adventure. Everything will be fine. I actually prefer to travel solo and even went to Russia for a week solo before my mom joined me the second week. Hope you have a great trip!!
Thanks for this!

I think it's the destination - I went to Zion National Park in Utah and I was fine. It's traveling out of the country that gets me nervous because of the unfamiliarity of the situation and the hassle if something happens. I think the main reason I'm doing this is because I need to feel like I still have a reason to stick around - I spent a lot alone time this year and it wasn't healthy. I guess this is just a distraction - a nerve wracking one but still I'm kinda of lost as to my options. So.........

I had the same feelings about my last trip, which was the first time I traveled out of the country. I actually made a post a lot like this before going. But going was probably the best thing I could have done. I discovered a passion I have for traveling and reawakened my fascination with the cultures of the countries I visited. I hope you enjoy the experience.
Thanks for this!
