I don’t know if this will make sense, so I’ll just ramble for a bit and see what comes out. I’m also not sure whether this should be classified under “relationships” or “sleep”, so I’ll just go with this and if it gets moved that’s fine. To be clear, I’m not in a relationship now; I’m single and I’d like to form a serious relationship with a deep emotional connection to someone. Also, no, there isn’t a specific person in the frame right now – this is a thing about relationships/dating in general.
I’ve written other posts about the tiredness I’m feeling (HERE and HERE), so, if you want more information, please go there, but the gist of it is that I do a lot of stuff with my free-time (in addition to working), but can’t seem to get enough sleep to get me throughout the week (not for lack of trying). This leaves me in a pretty constant state of exhaustion and I find myself just going through the motions with a lot of stuff. As I mentioned above, I would like to meet someone and start a relationship, but I find this hard to achieve, due to being tired all the time. Realistically, how am I likely to meet someone and form a connection if I’m always exhausted? Tiredness is hardly an endearing quality and meeting people/dating can take a lot out of you anyway. I know that meeting someone isn’t the be all and end all of everything, which is why I try to live my life for myself and do stuff I enjoy, but I would still like to try and meet someone if possible. What can I do to improve my situation here? I’m guessing it’ll be something to do with improving my sleep situation, but I don’t know how to address it, or even if there’s something I *can* do. |

You never know when you will meet someone you will click with, but being exhausted does seem like it would make it harder. It's difficult to give it your best when you have a long standing sleep deficit.
For the sleep issue, have you tried a fan or something else that would provide white/brown noise? Do you normally stay in bed when you wake up in the mornings or get up and start your day? |

When have you last had a physical check-up? Two things I'm thinking, maybe you have sleep apnea or a sleep disorder, and I think you should have your thyroid checked. The thyroid controls everything in your body, and if it's slow you could feel very tired. I'm no professional, just my experience. Also, can you ask for a temporary sleep aid? How about chatting online on a free dating site for now?

Is there a bathtub? I would go take a hot bath and snooze. But im famous for falling asleep in the tub.
Alcohol in the evening might be keeping you from getting restful sleep. Also ive read that its the time you sleep BEFORE midnight that is the most restorative for your body. If you do get into a relationship, you may eventually start sleeping at theirs, and that could help the early awakening problem - but might start a new one! |
