What do you do when you have a simple request that people keep ignoring? I don't like to be interrupted at home in my room, yet it happens about once every day or every few days. It's happening less, but it still hasn't stopped.
I have resorted to yelling, asking people if they are stupid, throwing things, self harm, breaking things. My next step I guess is just to ignore people when they interrupt and pretend they aren't there. Ultimately I think they don't respect my wishes, or me, so their behaviour persists. In my fantasies

Maybe, but I've been going on about this for over a year now. I started throwing things about a month ago.

I had a meltdown about it yesterday and drove out of the house, and had some thoughts about self harm. I'm probably mentally unwell.

I hope things are better today. I don't have an answer to this either and also don't understand why it happens. As frustrating as it is to be interrupted when you've specifically asked not to be, when you have the door closed, it seems like it is just part of living with other people. At least that's what I am settling on. For me, being interrupted sometimes when I don't want to be is better than living without my husband.
I wonder if everyone has a different idea of how long people mean when they say they don't want to be interrupted? For me, I don't want to be interrupted until I emerge, but it seems like other people think it's fair game after an hour or two because that's what they would mean. |

You are only being interrupted once a day or every few days and they bothers you to the point of throwing things, yelling at people, and calling them names? Fantasizing about shooting them? Seems like a bit of an overreaction and is rather disturbing. Are you in the care of a psychiatrist or therapist? I hope you will consider seeking help for you anger issues.
Put a sign on your door for the particular times you definitely do not want to be disturbed, but the reality is, you live with other people. You will be asked questions, asked to do things, etc. |

Yes I question my reactions, they seem extreme. Nevertheless I feel it's a simple request. I don't knock on other people's doors.
