You don't trust her! You shouldn't trust her in this situation where she does not have any experience and you do! It's not about trust and you do not owe her an explanation, she cannot understand yet. While she's a minor in your house she needs to learn to do what you say since you are saying it to keep her safe; she has to trust you, not you her, she's got it backwards.

Have her read DocJohn's recent blog article:

http://psychcentral.com/blog/archive...of-the-moment/

Adults can't be "trusted" in a room together with a closed door!

Tell her it's not about trust; it's about the rules of your home. The more you say to teens, the more they think they can argue you out of it. They hone that ability at school. I also like, "I don't have to be reasonable; I'm your mother."

I remember being 16 and lying on the bed with my boyfriend at the time and the door was shut, sure I wasnt doing anything, but boyfriends mom got really mad, and I didn't contest her feelings, I just left. I didn't look at her any type of way because it was her house and I have all the respect for parents and other peoples parents. I would ask her why she feels she needs the door shut if they are not hiding anything.
