Worried about a Friend

Gonna try and keep this as not-triggery as possible.

One of my best friends, Mike, just landed himself in hospital last night. I don't even know why. I've been told a 'car accident', but generally within my group of friends, saying someone got injured in a car accident is code for 'I'd tell you, but I think you're too unstable to hear the truth'.

Mike is a good guy, but he struggles a lot with his personal issues and does some serious self-injury, which is what I fear has landed him in hospital.

But he never gets help. I always try to get him to get help, but then he tells me I'm a huge hypocrite. I don't want to sound completely selfish, but Mike always hurting himself isn't easy on me or any of our friends.

And the guy practically lives in my basement some days, and shows up at my house all the time. He has a cousin who was his guardian he could stay with, or his girlfriend, and the guy has a job. He cleans my basement for me because I can't do it myself, but having him around all the time is annoying. He's supposed to help watch me too, but he's in just as bad a mental state as I am.

I don't know how to get him to get help, and for all I know, maybe the reason why he's in hospital is really severe. He's one of my best friends, I can't just turn my back on him.
