hi i am new to this forum. i am in high school and started dating a guy a month ago. we have a lot of fun together but as i get to know him the more i realize that he has some issues that he needs to work out. he has ocd, is depressed, and i think he has some rage issues. i dont think this is a healthy person to be in a relationship with and i want to end it. i would like to be his friend but i was just wondering how to break it off. i am not dealing with a completely stable person. does anyone have any background on this sort of thing. i need help and advice...thanks, kate

I can't say that I have background on it exactly, but I can try to give you some advice. First of all you are correct that you need to break it off. I think the best way to break it off is to first of all make sure that you are not completely alone with him, not necessarily where anyone could hear and have him be embarresed, but if he has these rages and OCD I wouldn't suggest being alone. Then I would just tell him bluntly that you like him alot, but you think that it would be better to break it off because you believe he has some issues that he needs to deal with (and maybe tell him exactly what those are if he's not getting it), but you still definitely want to be friends and help him work through these issues.
