Is there anyone out there who has cut off all relaltionships with both parents as an adult. I would really really like too, in fact it's gonna happen. I have a brother and a sister who have had very different experiences of my parents and are gonna be horrified with my behaviour!!-although I am the only 'mental' one in the family (have 'done' every anti-d under the sun and had a season ticket to the funny farm for a few years). nOW happily married and trying to clean up the stinky parts of my life. The parents are the stinkiest! waddya all reckon?

I would "reckon" Flatstan that if your parents are a disruption in your life it may not be a bad idea.
My father has passed away...but the mother has not and it seems like a great idea to me. I envy your courage. The best of luck to you.

they are not really a disruption, but i resent playing happy families with them after so many years of living with them in 'sicko' family-land. Why pretend stuff didn't happen when it did? They are divircing each other next month after 30 yrs marriage, not so bad for me to say seeya! too? ok rant over.
