Hi Everyone,
I joined this sight about a month ago and shortly after decided to help out answering questions in the Q and A part of this website. I felt happy helping where I could, because I've been through alot in my life and felt I had alot of wisdom to share. Everything was going well and all of us who were answerers got along great and were very supportive of each other. But for the last 2 days a new person joined (her name was WRITEAWAY) and she was very abusive to us and the people asking the questions. She got banned, but the next dat signed in as Meemee and did the same thing. She was particularly mean to me because she felt my answers were to kind so she acused me of beating around the bush. I e-mailed DocJohn and he blocked her again.
This experience has made me feel discouraged. I really enjoyed this sight and found solace in the kindness of the many people here. I guess the old saying is true - that one bad apple can ruin the whole crate. If you guys want to take a look and see all the destruction that WRITEAWAY and MEEmee did then feel free. An easy way to scan her answers would be top click on 'top members' and then click on the name and then go to answers- and it will bring up all her answers. Thanks for listening

lynn, hi

I might need to get my glasses, but I couldn't find "top members," only the members list.
Search for both names brought up your post only...

I'm sorry you went through this with this person, but don't let it stop you from doing what you know is right. helping others is the right thing to do...sometimes, though, people try and take over and that's when you need to ignore them as best as you can.
It's hard to do, I know. There is someone here who made a comment about me, it hurt, but I had to let go of it...it was only their opinion but my own opinion is the most important one.

I'm glad DocJohn was such a great help to you, too.

Peace,
Cap

I believe you are talking about Psych Central 'Answers.' Please also PM Clyde about this as he is the moderator there. I hope you will carry on answering and helping people there.

Hi lynn P. I'm sorry you had that experience. Unfortunately, it happens everywhere.

The good news? Now, that you've shared your experience, it gives the rest of us a heads up so we can watch out for each other. That's one important thing about PC. Yes, you'll get trolls and orcs, but most of us are very protective of this website and it's members.
Thanks for this!

Some people are just mean; they think they know everything and the fact that some people have problems means they are just stupid, pathetic people.

People like meemee/writeaway are very bitter and probably have social issues themselves or low selfesteem.

Everyone has issues, I have issues but I am lucky that my issues stay in check and my education, work, and friends stay seperate and I feel I can deal with anything thrown at me. But, my problems aren't that big; some people have issues that can't be kept in check or dealt with on their own. The fact that people can ask for help or support makes them stronger then they realize.

Tell those jerks that are mean and unsupportive to suck it. When they know they can't hurt you they feel powerless!

As someone who has dedicated alot of my time in my life to helping others in many different settings it can be frustrating running into people like this. just try to keep the big picture in mind. If you let that stuff discourage you from helping, then that's one lesshelping soul out there for someone in need. Your mission is larger than one petty individual.

I have done alot of volunteer youth coaching...much of it unpaid. I love helping kids. Ironically I almost never have a problem with the kids, it's usually a parent. Believe me, I know one bad apple could just suck the fun out of an entire season. One time, I was coaching a coach pitch softball team. That is where the coach of the team pitches to his own players. One of the fathers once accused me of striking his son out on purpose!!
I could deal with people questioning my coaching style, techniques, whatever. However to actually suggest that I am conspiring against a kid on my team that I'm trying to help & spend time with that his dad won't do it really got under my skin. Plus, I'm way to competitive...I'm not going to do anything that's going to hurt the teams chances to win.
I had never been so ticked at a parent
That accusation went right at the core of me as a coach, a volunteer & a sportsman

Just sharing to let you know we know how you feel. I will read the posts.
Sometimes, it can be a conflicted person crying out for help & going about it the wrong way. I've personally done that before. I didn't do it joining here but I would intentionally try to turn people away with the worst part of my personality right off the bat. My logic was if they were still their after that then MAYBE I could trust them to stick around.

either way, remember this is a reflection on her, not on you
Thanks for this!

Hi Capp,
if you want to find someones answers at Q and A you can click on Top Members at the top under the menu bar where it says quizes and scroll down to both names. If you click on them, you get their file and click on answers and that shows all the questions that the person answered. I use the name Bellacutie (that my dog's name who is cute) as my pen name. Thanks for the interest and encouragement. Everyone is usually great here. I will try not to let this discourage me.

Thanks To Everyone,
thanks to all of you who answered, it made me feel better. This is my first negative experience here, but you're all right - I'm not gonna let it discourage me. She kept trying to defend herself by saying "I give people the brutal truth". But I prefer to use the gentle approach because some people are fragile and I didn't want to make them feel worse. I forgot to mention that my pen name over at Q and A is 'Bellacutie' - that's after my dog who's the cutest ever. If you want to take a look at her , she's om my profile. Thanks again!

I only had to look at one question and a few posts from this person

WOW!!!!!!! the word **** comes to mind; I apologize if someone doesn't care for harsh language I am truly holding back.

DON'T let this person discourage you. SHe is just trying to find people to put down to feel better about herself. I can't magine this woman has any real friends so she just wants people to feel bad about themselves the way she feels about herself.

Bullies - they need help. But sometimes, I think they need to be sent to an island somewhere to think deeply for a few years - like in the movie Castaway (Tom Hanks).

(((((( lynn ))))) I'm glad you are feeling better now and that DocJohn has been able to address the issue at Answers.

Thanks everyone for your support on this thread. At this time I am closing this thread.
