I know how you are feeling and I really really feel for you. I understand you pain and I share it with you. All I can tell you is that though you never get over the loss, the pain and the love, things do become easier with time.

i hope you are ok and that your dad is not in any pain - remember that even when they are gone physicaly - they are stil with us in spirit and in our hearts and memories.

Sending God's peace to you & your dad. I know what you are going through as it was 6 years ago that I was going through similar with my Mother. I still can't celebrate Thanksgiving with anyone in a normal thanksgiving setting without the flashbacks to that last Thanksgiving with her.

I know how difficult it is....I really have to say what wonderful grace your father has through all of this....something to hang onto along with his love for you. This wonderful meaningful time that you are having together with your dad is something that you will cherish forever. It's something that my Mother was too much in denial to have with me, guess that is why it's so very noticeable to me as being such a wonderful experience even though it's overshadowed with all the sadness......something that is more recognized looking back I think.

May God give you strength & your dad, a lack of suffering & may you really be thankful for this thanksgiving that you have to share together this year. I know it's hard when it gets down to the end like this. We never know when God's time will come but we do know that it's all in God's time. That was wise that you made sure your dad knows that stopping the transfusions is not suicide.....the transfusions are only a type of life support at this point it seems to me. Maybe he could talk this over with his Dr.......but I'm sure that part was that he needed to hear that you know it's ok.

I know that my mother held on even though we were all assured of her being in heaven. I think some of that was the fear of the unknown but also the need to hear from me that it was ok to let go

Don't know if they have hospice care that would help with giving him pain medication or not, but know that the last 5 days of my mothers life, we arranged to have the hospice care keep her pain medication going.

Your Dad is in my prayers and so are you friend. I lost my dad last october and the holidays are really hard. I will keep you in my prayers and I am happy he is doing better, take care and happy thanksgiving, peace

thank you all so much. I will be with him most of the day tomorrow and will tell him what a few ministers told me to tell him.

Debbie no hospice will be involved. He asked my stepmom and I to please dont take him to a hospice facility and none at home. Between the 2 of us we should be able to help. His type of cancer they say is not painful and he won't die from it per sey but more of a major bleed or infection. He is growing weaker it seems on a weekly basis though and the dr said that would happen. thank goodness not alot of pain.

today was a little bittersweet. We had a good day with dad starting out pretty good but he tired pretty quickly. Today my daughter announced to us all her baby is a girl! I thought Dad was going to cry!

How wonderful for him to know such good news. It sounds like it was a nice day for you all.

he is doing ok. about the same really. he is growing weaker every week it seems. he had minor surgery today to have a port put in so he don't have to be stuck so many times to get his weekly blood test and transfusions. I wondered if it were the right decision and yes it was. they had to stick him 6 times to get 2 iv's in. he almost cried it hurt his arms so bad.

How are things going?

oh gosh I forgot to update here! he got the port last thursday. friday morning he had a major bleed and we had to rush him to the hospital. his o2 was only 75% also so they kept him to find out why. turns out he now has congestive heart failure. they kept him until Sunday and sent home with hospital bed and all that kind of stuff along with oxygen. he went for his weekly blood test this tuesday and his platelets were already back down to 13k so he got more. gone today to get more again. he is just getting worse all the time. I am just hoping he will make it to see his new great granddaughter!
