Has anyone converted to Reform Judaism? If so, do you have any support you can offer me?

I've wanted to talk to a Rabbi about this for a few years but I'm scared. Most of the time I feel like my faith is silly. I have issues talking to highly educated men. I have a lot of questions and have no support from my hubby because he is more interested in becoming an Unitarian Universalist.

Can I ask WHY you are scared to talk to a Rabbi about your wonders? imo - he would be the perfect person to answer all your questions.

first off your faith is NOT silly. Let's make sure you hear that. repeat...your faith IS NOT SILLY!!

now that we're past that the next thing is looking into the possibility of a female rabbi in the greater metro area.

if that is totally off base due to ignorance Reform Judaism Conversion on the part of this poster about Reform Judaism please ignore above suggestion

I have not, but I find many though provoking things about it. It's too bad you have no support from your hubby but do your thing. Faith is not silly, IMHO, it is necessary. Call a rabbi at a local Reform congregation and have a chat. That's the perfect person to answer your questions in detail. Maybe start compiling a list of questions so you are prepared. There is also a lot of info here in this quiz:

I tested pretty for high Reform Judaism. There are lot of articles and discussions on there about it. Also check out:

Good luck!

Rhapsody . . . because I'm scared of talking to strangers about something so personal. I'm scared of talking to men. I'm scared of entering a place (synagogue) without someone I trust to hold my hand and who knows the way and knows what to do.

_Sky . . . no, I'm just a Gentile wanting to convert to Reform Judaism. For eight years I've wanted to talk to a rabbi about this but felt silly because I'm a Gentile and what I have researched online that it's not encouraged for Gentiles to become Jews, although some rabbis will do conversion. I can't procrastinate this anymore because I want my son to grow up with a community of fellow believers his age.

__zh . . . thanks. i hear that. i have a lot of anxiety about it which makes it easy for excuses why i've put this off . . . my faith low on my list.

RainbowFaerie . . . oh my, that test was great! Thank you for sharing that link. That link should be a stinky for this forum!

My test results confirmed my research. I look forward to seeing my hubby's results. Mine are:

Reform Judaism (100%)
Unitarian Universalism (85%)

I grew up in a Jewish household. My mother was Jewish and my father converted when they married. I have read about Reform Judaism, and it seems more accepting. I don't know much about it, but it does interest me.

I understand your issues talking with Men, and I think it is a good idea to talk to a female Rabbi. It may be easier for you.

I have a lot of issues with faith and g-d ingeneral becuase of my traumatic past, and I am not a religious person now, but I don't consider myself an athiest if that makes sense. I just married a man who grew up in a Christian household, but it not religious now.

Sorry I don't have much to add. I just wanted to let you know I was listening mainly. Reform Judaism Conversion

Hi Jennie,

I am glad you liked it! A friend sent it to me a long time ago and I think it is pretty darn accurate and very helpful with exploring spirituality.

Let us know how it goes!
