~ CHRISTIAN POEM(s) ~

* * * * * * * * * *

Let us use this THREAD as a PLACE to SHARE our life as a believer...... thru POEMS.

* * * * * * * * * *

~ Peace of God ~

We need a humbleness of mind,
Remaining meek and being kind;
In forbearing of one to another,
As well as forgiving each other.

You should not quarrel or argue,
Understand their point of view;
With an open mind to the thought,
How they might have been taught.

Remember it was through Christ,
He forgave when being sacrificed;
Above all things put on the love,
Flowing from His blood thereof.

Let peace from God rule your heart,
Firmly bonding for to never part;
Being of one body in thankfulness,
As you dwell in His blessedness.

Let His Word dwell in the wisdom,
Preparing you for His kingdom;
Every word and deed you proclaim,
By speaking it through Jesus' name.

~ Far from Perfect ~

I set my eyes for doing good,
As the Scriptures say I should;
But it is not always that way,
Because my eyes tend to stray.

So I continue to look around,
Trying not to make a sound;
But always seem to get involved,
Emotionally until it is resolved.

In having firmly planted roots,
Someone plucked all my fruits;
Then treating me as an outcast,
As nice guys seem to finish last.

I wish I had revenge in my sight,
But two wrongs do not make a right;
And so I will forgive and forget,
In order for me to cancel the debt.

For I know God is on my side,
Maybe not perfect but I abide;
And in doing wrong I confess,
Knowing that God sure to bless.

~ When I Say I'm Christian ~

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

The Garden
(Renee's poem)

A garden I would till
With blooms of rarest scent
With walls secure around
To veil my Love and I

Hours we would spend
In each other's arms
A tale of sweetest love
He would speak to me alone

My weary brow He'd soothe
The broken heart would mend
This spirit cause to sing
And teach my anxious soul to trust

A pledge of truest love
I'd make to Him who loved
That upon a tree was hung
For eternity with me to spend

A vow of faithful trust
I'd make to my Beloved
My life to Him I'd give
And leave the garden nevermore

Not Merely to Survive

Why me, Lord,
what did I do to deserve this?
Where were You when I needed You?
What of my Guardian angels? I don't believe!
A loving God doesn't allow this to happen
to an innocent child!"

Raging with misfortune,
I cried out in pain,
"Curse the evil fates!
God does not exist!"
Wallowing in self-pity,
I blamed instead of acting.

Unhappiness caused me to look within and found:
agony, bitterness, rage, betrayal.
"From the fullness of the heart
the mouth speaks."

He spoke from his pulpit high
oblivious to pain of folks in pews.
Arrogant discourser
emply of understanding.
Lacking in comfort and assistance!
What does he know of depravity
in his unenlightend mind?

Free will, right or wrong,
our choies are our own!
Where is reconning for her
who Holy edicts broke
while claiming to be His?
In thought and prayer
I spent much time.
The words "free will"
echoed on the own
in the peripheries of my mind
'til one day His dawn was born
deep within my heart.

She chose to break devine commands.
Old crone alone will face Him
on His judgement throne.
I'll turn pain into victory
and torment into peace.

Embracing those who share my plight,
by Grace, working things for good
with help from One
who began good work in me.
Turning sorrow into joy
weakness into strength.

This course is clearly set before me;
not merely to survive but Overcome!
