There was a child who held up to God their broken toy to fix, after some time had passed and the toy was no more fixed the child said, "God,why haven't you fixed it?" God replied, "how could I, you wouldn't let it go!" I think that there are many people who believe that God answers prayer, but who have somehow excluded themselves from the list at least in part because of our father/ trust issues. That's a hard thing to get over, (maybe even the hardest), we can SAY we're over it, but our actions tell a different story at times. I want to pray for all of the people who need healing, (all kinds) that there could be trust and even "faith" real enough in our lives to banish our doubts so that it could work.

I used to have trust issues because of my sperm donor. He left me with a truckload of guilt trips, fear and trust issues. At this late date, I'm still working through them although I've come to know that (God) my Heavenly Father is the Perfect Father.
However, the sperm donor wasn't the only one that messed up my mind. Seems the family system was messed up all the way around. I learned early on that if I was going to be taken care of, I'd have to do it myself. Throughout my life I have found that I ask God to "fix it" but have a really hard time letting go of the thing that needs fixed. It takes time and practice to build up the Faith to trust Him. Each time I have had Faith and trusted Him, He's come through for me. He's always been faithful to His promises. __________________ Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |

I have had other issues that fit this picture but in a bit different way......I would always hold onto the toy.....waiting for God to show me how to fix it myself. For me, my prayers weren't usually for God to fix something as much as they were prayers for God to show me what I needed to do to fix something.....there were still times when I waited forever for that also....looking back it was God saying definitely let go & let me fix it....it doesn't always come down on your shoulders to have to fix everything......remember, it's ok to need someone else at times.
Another way of looking at the same situation, Debbie __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. Leo my soulmate will live in my heart FOREVER Nov 1, 2002 - Dec 16, 2018 |

Oh, boy! I'm with you on that one, too! Along with the independence that I learned, I've often felt that God trusts me to fix what's broken myself. Sometimes I'll ask for His help but I'm still not turning loose of what's broken.
Now, when my kids are in a place where they are vulnerable to dangers and I know there's no way I can do anything about it, even if I was there, I turn loose of that! If they're on the road, flying somewhere, something like that, I just put them in God's hands and trust Him to take care of them. I guess it's all in knowing the difference between something I can do something about and that which I have no control over? Yeah, that must be it. __________________ Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |

Anxiety makes letting go especially hard. But refusing to let go, and worrying over it, does not help anything.

I've worn those shoes before! They're very uncomfortable.
